'The 100' Season 7 Episode 15: Madi and Clarke scene slammed as triggering, fans say 'imagine how Eliza felt'
Spoilers for ‘The 100’ Season 7 Episode 15 'The Dying of the Light'
In the penultimate episode of The CW's post-apocalypse series, we see many emotional moments with Emori (Luisa D'Oliveira) almost dying (we aren't sure if she's dead yet) and with Clarke Griffin (Eliza Taylor) and Octavia Blake (Marie Avgeropoulos) making their way to Bardo to save Madi (Lola Flannery) from Bill Cadogan (John Pyper-Ferguson) aka The Shephard. Cadogan only wants the code for the anomaly stone or the code to begin the last war and he had to use MCAP to get into Madi's brain because she still held the memories of The Flame.
In the last episode, we saw Madi, following the footsteps of her mother Clarke and sacrifice herself to Cadogan . Ending up in Bardo, with no time wasted, she was taken to MCAP to begin the process of finding out what is in her brain aka the code. With Levitt (Jason Diaz) doing the procedure on her, he realizes that the memories are not stored within her brain superficially and that he would have to go deeper which he tells Cadogan was a dangerous pursuit. When Madi finally decides to fight back, she starts to hurt herself and seeing this Levitt tells Cadogan that there should be another way that this could be done. Of course, Cadogan being as vile as he is dismisses Levitt who then helps bring Clarke and Octavia to Bardo.
Unfortunately, the Disciples on Bardo had switched the bridge that earlier had led straight into their quarters so Clarke and Octavia ended up facing armed disciples the minute they stepped onto Bardo. After being freed by Levitt from being held behind bars and using the help Sheidheda (JR Bourne), Clarke and Octavia were able to get to Madi, they find a young girl who is unresponsive yet breathing - like a vegetable. Levitt finds that not only did Cadogan end up with the code, but that Madi had suffered a stroke and although she has neural activity, she isn't capable of voluntary movement. Clarke decides to shoot Madi, with Octavia volunteering to do so after not wanting Clarke to live with killing her daughter. But, when they realize that Cadogan has the code, they leave Madi behind with Clarke promising her daughter that Cadogan will be stopped.
Fans found this scene to be extremely disturbing considering that it was revealed that actress Eliza Taylor had suffered a miscarriage during the filming of the season. In the scene with Madi, she is seen saying "my baby" repeatedly which some may even consider exploitative. "Bruh that madi scene was SO dark and VERY triggering...idk how i feel abt kim making clarke say “my baby” after what happened to her irl, like...there’s def something wrong w that if that was triggering for us (i actually BAWLED), imagine how eliza felt shooting it #the100," tweeted a disturbed fan.

Fans couldn't understand why the narrative went that far as to hurt a child. "The fact that Bill did that to a child is disgusting #the100," tweeted one fan. Another fan added, "This is too much. Too far. Madi deserves better. And #Clarke sure as hell deserves better. Why do you hate her so much, Jason? Why create a character that you hate? Clarke deserves some peace, some love, some forgiveness. Yet you just keep killing everyone she loves! #The100."

Many seem to call out the creator of the series Jason Rothenberg, who seems to have also become quite unpopular with the final season of one of his best works. A fan tweeted, "I was, of course, very angry with Clark and was still angry, but now I truly feel sorry for her. Losing the child for whom you are doing ABSOLUTELY all this is awful. Jason and Kim, this is not called DRAMA, this is called bullying. #clarkegriffin #madi #madigriffin #the100." Another fan added, "I really don’t like that Madi is completely paralyzed.. It’s permanent damage and they were going to kill her until Levitt interrupted. This doesn’t sit well with me. Clarke killing Bellamy to protect Madi just for her to end up like this doesn’t sit well with me. #The100."
