Thanksgiving is right around the corner, with less than a week to go for the holiday, and we get it. All this family time can get a little stressful at times but worry not, television schedules have you covered for those much-needed distractions with Thanksgiving specials and football games lined up for the day. From the Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade to iconic Thanksgiving specials like Turkey Drop and even a segment on true crimes, here's all you can watch out for on November 28.
Thanksgiving TV specials
'Vetsgiving' (3 am, Nat Geo Wild): Your favorite veterinarian shows like 'The Incredible Dr. Pol', 'Dr. K’s Exotic Animal ER', 'Dr. Oakley: Yukon Vet', and 'Dr. T: Lone Star Vet' is gearing up for all your marathon viewing pleasures, starting November 28, at 3 am on Nat Geo Wild, and run all through December 1.
'National Dog Show' (noon, NBC): Packing more furry action will be the NBC special airing at noon, with repeats airing at 5, 7 and 9 pm on the NBC Sports Network.
'Turkey Drop' (11 am, Freeform): The Freeform reboot of the original shows a college girl (Olivia Holt) returning home for Thanksgiving to the awful realization that she might get dumped by her high-school boyfriend. The movie airs at 11 am on the network and also stars Cheryl Hines, Ben Levin, and Tyler Perez.
'The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration' (8 pm, ABC): What better than a group of performers celebrating the holiday on Disney? The group comprising of Sting, Shaggy, Pentatonix, Ally Brooke!
'Thanksgiving True Crime' (8 pm, Investigation Discovery): Nothing says Thanksgiving like some true crime shows, right? Here's the ID channel, presenting to you iconic true crime stories in the form of 'Mom’s Last Thanksgiving' at 8 pm, 'The Night Before Thanksgiving' at 9 pm, and 'The Thanksgiving Axe Murderer' at 10 pm.
Thanksgiving Day Parades
'The 93rd Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade' (9 am, NBC) Thanksgiving television wouldn't be the same without a step by step coverage of the annual parade that runs from Central Park to the Macy’s at Herald Square in New York. The main attractions include 50-foot balloons, marching bands and even live performances by both celebrities and Broadway companies alike. For those missing the live telecast, a repeat will follow on the channel at 2 pm, right after the 'National Dog Show'.
'The Thanksgiving Day Parade on CBS' (9 am, CBS): Rivalling NBC will be CBS' coverage of the parade, with Kevin Frazier and Keltie Knight anchoring the event.
'ABC Thanksgiving Day Parade' (9 am, ABC): ABC joins the league of parage coverages as it will broadcast Philadelphia’s big Thanksgiving Day parade, which happens to be the oldest Thanksgiving Day parade in the country. Giant floats, balloons, marching bands, choirs, dance groups, and even Santa are coming to entertain attendees and viewers, with special guests including Macy Gray and Carson Kressley.
