Woman bites off and swallows host's nose after being refused more alcohol, cigarettes at house party
A Texas woman was arrested on Friday after she allegedly bit off and swallowed another woman’s nose. The woman was identified as Jessica Collins and the incident took place after Jessica spent a night out partying with her friend and her friend’s neighbor identified only as Tatiana. The girls decided to take the party to Tatiana's house but things got a little out of hand.
Jessica, who had never met Tatiana before, grew disruptive when she demanded more alcohol and cigarettes. However, when Tatiana refused to oblige to her requests, Jessica attacked her. She accused Jessica of yanking her to the ground by her hair and biting her nose, ripping off a large chunk of it with her teeth.
Speaking to Star-Telegraph, Tatiana recalled that she was left in shock and did not know how to respond. “I didn’t have time to react, to push her away. I think I was trying to fight back, but I couldn’t. All I could remember was the taste of blood in my mouth,” she said.
The incident shook Tatiana completely. “I started calling my husband when I was in the ambulance. I was screaming, like, ‘I don’t have a nose. I’m 28 years old and I don’t have a nose anymore.’ ”
Immediately after the incident took place, the police were called and Jessica was arrested. She has been charged with assault causing bodily injury. A friend of Tatiana also started a GoFundMe page in order to raise money for the reconstructive surgery that would repair her nose as Tatiana has no health insurance.
The cost of the surgery is expected to be $12,000. "My friend was attacked by a mentally unstable person last week when she asked her to leave her property. Instead of leaving, the lady lunged at my friend, biting off her nose and swallowing it," her friend wrote on the page. "Because the missing piece was never recovered, my friend now needs reconstructive plastic surgery. But if she doesn't have it within two weeks, the wound would start to heal and the surgery would be more complicated."
She also added that Tatiana was also "emotionally" damaged after the incident took place. Several people came forward to help Tatiana but the biggest help came from Dr. Eugene Alford at the Houston Methodist (6560 Fannin St. Houston, TX) who came forward and decided to do the procedure for free. The whole process will take 2-3 years with multiple procedures, he will cover all the surgeon fee and also the hospital fees today and in the future!" her friend noted.
She further noted, "This fund is going to help Tatiana recover, put food on their 9yo’s table, help the whole family keep their home, pay all the bills, etc. Since she and her husband have not returned to work ever since the day of the attack. She is also grateful for Dr. Franklin Rose and Dr. Lucian Rivela who also reached out to us and offered their services, Pro Bono."
