A Texas man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after he plotted to kill, rape, and eat a 13-year-old girl. 23-year-old Alexander Barter was given 480 months in federal prison on Thursday after he pleaded guilty to attempted coercion and enticement of a minor and distribution of child pornography. As part of a plea deal, Barter agreed to a lifetime of supervised release following his time behind bars, KLTV reported. Prior to his arrest, Barter had shared a post on the dark web expressing his interest to engage in "necrophilia and cannibalism." "I'd like to try necrophilia and cannibalism, and see how it feels to take a life," he wrote in October 2018. "If you'd be willing to let me kill you, are in the US (preferably in the south), and can travel by car, contact me."

The ad caught the eye of a public safety officer, who responded to Barter as part of an undercover sting operation. The officer assumed the persona of a father who was willing to sacrifice his 13-year-old daughter. Barter pounced at the response enthusiastically. He reached out to the officer and asked him how old the girl was and, "Can we kill her?" The 23-year-old subsequently devised a plan to get the teenager to a hotel room, kill her, have sex with her corpse, and then eat her remains.

In fact, Barter also provided the undercover officer instructions on how to get away with the crime. He reportedly suggested purchasing a burner phone and new clothes to wear after the murder. The monster was finally arrested on his way to an agreed-upon spot in Joaquin, Texas. Authorities found he was carrying a bag that contained a knife, a trash bag, a cellphone, and a tablet. US Attorney Stephen Cox applauded law enforcement for acting swiftly and preventing potential horrific crimes from taking place.

"As this chilling case demonstrates, online talk is not always just talk," Cox said. "The constant vigilance of our law enforcement partners has prevented an evildoer from finding a like-minded accomplice and bringing his grisly plan to fruition."

"This case is a sobering reminder of how the brave men and women of law enforcement face down the worst of the worst in the scariest of scenarios," he added. Mark Dawson, a special agent reportedly in charge of HSI Houston, described his shock at the "depraved" conspiracy and lauded fellow agents who worked on the case.

"In my 23-year career in law enforcement, this is among the most morally depraved and appalling criminal conspiracies that I have come across," he said. "Without the quick and decisive actions of special agents, this disturbed predator would still be out there looking for potential victims to carry out his sick and demented fantasies."

Earlier this week, we reported how Joseph Oberhansley, the Indiana man accused of killing and eating parts of his former girlfriend's organs, appeared for his trial on Monday, September 14, where officials revealed that when they first entered the victim's apartment "there was blood everywhere." One officer, during the trial in Clark County, also revealed that Oberhansley, 38, appeared "nervous" when the police asked him his former girlfriend's whereabouts.

Oberhansley has been charged with burglary, rape, and murder after police found Tammy Jo Blanton’s lifeless body in her bathtub on September 11, 2014.
