HOUSTON, TEXAS: A man doused a seven-month-old girl’s eyes with bleach after beating up his girlfriend in a horrific domestic abuse case.

Jehral Joseph, 34, was charged with aggravated assault and injury to a child in connection with the violent incident that took place in January 2019 in Houston, Texas. According to the authorities, the accused reportedly battered his unidentified girlfriend by slamming her into a wall after telling her to "stop acting like a female."

When she tried to call for help, he broke her phone and punched her in the stomach. The victim somehow tried to gather all their children as she prepared to make a quick getaway from her abuser when Joseph poured a bottle of bleach on her, ABC13 reported.

The bleach got into her eyes and nose and she had difficulty breathing due to the fumes. The chemical also got into the eyes of their infant daughter. The girlfriend later told the police that the accused cursed at her and her children by shouting, "F**k the children, f**k them kids, f**k you and your sister," as he carried out the alleged attack.

The three children were rushed to the hospital where they were treated for itching and burning skin. None of the children were identified, neither were their ages released. Their current conditions are not known.

Joseph made his first court appearance on Monday, January 6. The accused did not enter into a plea during his appearance. He has two previous convictions in Harris County, Texas for assaulting a family member.

In Texas, aggravated assault is charged as a Second or First Degree felony. If charged as a Second Degree felony, the offender can be punished by a $10,000 fine and 2-20 years in prison. For a First Degree felony, Aggravated Assault is punishable by a $10,000 fine and up to life in prison.
