Texas man who filmed and distributed nude video of mother caught stealing her car 2 years after she banned him from driving it
WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS: A Texas man who was previously arrested for recording and distributing video of his mother in the nude, has now been charged with stealing her car.
Jonathin Helms, 32, was arrested on Friday morning, November 29, on Longview Street in Wichita Falls, Texas while he was out allegedly taking his mother’s car for a joyride. When the police stopped the vehicle with Helms inside and asked him where he was taking the car, he told the authorities that he was on his way to visit a friend, KFDX reported.
When the police visited his mother's house, she confirmed that her car was missing. She said that she had left her keys out on her counter and later found that the vehicle was nowhere to be found.
The mother, who was not identified in police records, also said that she used to allow her son to drive her car in the distant past but after he filmed her while she was naked in a bathtub, she denied him access to her car and it had been two years since.
In 2017, Helms barged in on his mother while she was taking a bath and began recording a video of her. Thereafter, Helms’ mother got a call from her daughter who said that her son had sent her the footage of her bathing in the bathtub. Helms was arrested shortly after the incident and charged with improper recording.
After Helms pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of promotion of obscene material, the charges against him were dropped in 2018 and he was sentenced to a maximum of 12 days in jail.
It was not immediately clear if he served the entire sentence.
In September this year, Helms was also reportedly also charged with assault family violence, according to court records. His mother was granted a protective order in 2017.
