Law enforcement authorities in Odessa, Texas, have arrested an abusive father who reportedly beat his one-year-old daughter and sealed her eyes and mouth shut using super-glue. According to the Odessa Police Department, 29-year-old Johnnie Lee Carter was apprehended and arrested in El Paso on a felony charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.

The one-year-old girl was then taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries. Doctors found redness on her neck, to which the child's mother told authorities that Carter choked the toddler with one hand and punched her head and ribs with the other before applying super glue to her face. He reportedly fled after police were called to a domestic incident on September 16. According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The Dallas Morning News, the woman told investigating officers that the father beat the infant because "she wouldn't stop crying."

Carter also allegedly covered their baby before assaulting the toddler, she said. The affidavit states that responding officers found a two-month-old baby under several blankets and pillows in a motel room where the family was staying. They also found Crazy Glue in the same room.
