‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 Episode 2 hints at a possible death threat for Ashley Rose

After a devastating accident leaves Ashley with a scarred face, burned body, and a lost musical voice, she is soon met with an obsessed fan who could probably go to the extent of killing her out of sheer fanaticism.

‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 starts with three classic tales of love and hatred, laced with betrayal and violence with the most twisted characters that one can imagine. In Episode 1 we saw Ashley Rose Pruitt (Natalie Ann Lind), the star of the Pruitt family and a pop icon, launching her latest single at a gala night in Nashville. But as luck would have it, her career was cut short by a freak accident that burned almost half her face and body, turning the diva into a devil. This pushes Ashley down a spiral of self-loathing and insecurity.

In the middle of chaos and Ashley’s misery, we are also introduced to a fan, who breaks into a high-security hospital ward just to catch a glimpse of his idol. While one could easily ignore and forget this ignorable character and the scene as happenstance, it soon turns out that the fan is beyond what it seems. He is not just an admirer of Ashley but perhaps also an anonymous lover - a sadistic and obsessed one. We see him burning himself on a candelabrum, perhaps as a way to show his pain for Ashley’s disaster. Whatever might be his story, it is quite evident from the trailer of episode 2 that he could possibly be a severe threat to Ashley.

At the same time as Ashley is struggling with her ruined career, damaged body, and broken confidence, someone out there has sinister plans. In the promo, we see Ashley receiveing a death threat from an unknown stalker. She receives a photo of her with mauled eyes and face.

Our speculation indicates two possibilities. One, it could be her obsessed fan who wants to inflict pain on himself, and perhaps on Ashley, for whatever unexplained reasons. Two, it could be the one who tried to burn Ashley to death in the car accident. Or, combining the two theories, we can also say that the fan would have tried to kill Ashley for reasons that we are still not aware of. If Ashley Rose’s story can be compared to ‘Beauty and The Beast’, it will be clear that there is a character swap from the original tale. Here, the woman assumes the form of the beast and her accident is nothing short of a curse and only if she learns to live with flaws, would she find her peace. Though we cannot say if Ashley will learn to live with flaws in her or will her shortcomings become the reason for her own death, we can surely say that she might face a second death threat soon.

‘Tell Me A Story’ Season 2 airs every Thursday only on CBS All Access.
