'Ted Lasso' Season 3 Episode 2: Who is Zava? Prodigy footballer joins AFC Richmond after Rebecca’s scathing remarks
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: It has taken a lot of time for AFC Richmond to reach the Premier League once again after being relegated. Every media outlet, sports journalist, and blogger has predicted that Richmond will finish last this time around as well and be relegated. So, it doesn’t come as a shock that the management is ready to do anything and everything to defy the odds and do much better than expected. Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) is already very annoyed because the pundits have made it clear that West Ham United will top the table once again and it’s Rupert’s team, so we can see why Rebecca is so frustrated. However, breaking news coming from the football team makes the entire management really excited.
While having a meeting in Rebecca’s room, Higgins (Jeremy Swift) tells everyone, including Coach Lasso, that Zava is leaving Juventus and now wants to play the Premier League just because his wife watched the British version of ‘The Office’ and now wants to live in the UK. So, a lot of teams are going for him, including West Ham, so Rebecca makes a plan to sign Zava (Maximilian Osinski) as well even though he is very expensive. But, who is Zava and why does every team want to have him?

Zava is considered to be one of the greatest Footballers of this generation and has played for 14 teams in the last 15 years. However, his record has been impeccable, and single-handedly wins trophies for his teams. He is a prodigy and where he goes, he leaves chaos and trophies. Teams like Chelsea, West Ham, and others have been trying to get in contact with him so that they can buy him.
It’s GAME DAY for AFC Richmond and the team is playing Chelsea. Everyone believes Richmond will lose and start its campaign on a disastrous note. Roy Kent gets a heroic welcome and the entire stadium has erupted with joy after watching Kent enter the stadium. However, everything changes when Zava enters the stadium to watch the game. West Ham’s boss and Rebecca’s ex-husband, Rupert, meet Zava and it looked like he is undoubtedly going to get his guy, but Rebecca had other plans. She meets Zava in the restroom and tells him that he is overhyped and overrated. She tells him that it is one of the reasons why he wants to join a big club and Zava wouldn’t be as big as he considers himself to be.
The moment finally arrived and Chelsea is set to sign Zava into the team. As soon as he sat down for the contract, Zava said that he has changed his mind and he will no longer play for Chelsea. Rupert was really happy because he thought Zava is finally coming to West Ham United. However, Zava stuns everyone when he announces that he will be playing with AFC Richmond this season.
Rebecca’s pep-talk worked and the world’s greatest player is now playing with AFC Richmond. Will this signing change the team’s destiny? Let’s hope for the best.
