Texas school staffer had sex with three teens at home after putting kid to bed, held after boys ratted her out
TEXARKANA, TEXAS: A former Independent School District instructional aide in Texarkana, Texas has been charged for alleged sexual misconduct with three male students last year. 24-year-old Ashlyn Faye Bell worked in the library and as a teacher’s assistant at Texas High School, according to probable cause affidavits filed in the cases. She is now charged with two felony counts of improper relationship between educator and student and one felony count of sexual assault of a child, Texarkana Today reported.
In June this year, a teacher overheard a group of boys talking about how one of them might have impregnated Bell. School officials subsequently confronted the student, who allegedly revealed he had had sex with Bell once. She reportedly told him he was not the "daddy" of her child and that other students had also engaged in sexual intercourse with her.
Speaking to detectives, the first student, 17, said he met Bell in the school library and soon began exchanging messages on Snapchat. Bell allegedly arranged to meet the boy around Thanksgiving and drove him to her New Boston, Texas residence where they had sex. Her child was reportedly in the back seat of the car when she came to pick the boy up and put the child to bed before the duo went to her bedroom, the boy added.
The second student, also 17, told authorities that he engaged in sexual intercourse with Bell after she became his tutor and that it took place at Bell's home in New Boston. Meanwhile, the third student, 16, told police he had sex with Bell at her residence on November 22, 2019, after the final Texas High football game. He claimed the duo had sex again the following weekend. Each offense Bell is charged with is a second-degree felony that carries with it up to 20 years in prison. She was arrested on June 24, but has since been released on three $50,000 bonds.
This comes just days after a former Miss Kentucky and school teacher was sentenced to prison after admitting to exchanging sexually charged photos with a teenage student during her tenure at a school in West Virginia. 29-year-old Ramsey BethAnn Bearse was sentenced to two years in prison at the Kanawha County Circuit Court. Kanawha Assistant Prosecutor Meshell Jarrett said she was also given an additional 10 years of supervised release and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
Bearse pleaded guilty to one count of possessing material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct on December 17, 2019. In court, she admitted she had made a mistake while exchanging messages on Snapchat last year. According to police, she and the student, who cannot be named for legal reasons, exchanged sexually charged photos between August and October of 2018. According to a criminal complaint, lewd photos of Bearse were found by one of the student's parents on his phone, leading to her arrest in December 2018.
Bearse told the court she had meant to send a risque photo to her husband, but ended up sending it to the teen by mistake. According to her, she continued to send additional photos to the student because she was "afraid to not appease him". "Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenager, it is my fault, and I accept full blame for the situation," Bearse said. "So that’s how I’m guilty of this crime. I messed up big-time."
