27-year-old former teacher Stephanie Peterson reportedly admitted to having sex with a 14-year-old student in a car and in a barn claiming that she fell in love with him.

Peterson allegedly sent the student lewd messages and pictures over the phone and also picked up the student from his home before having sex with him in her home and her car, according to the Mirror. Court documents stated that the pair had sexual intercourse more than once.

The relationship was uncovered after the teenager's mother found out about the romps and the messages exchanged between the duo. After Peterson got to know that the child's mother knew, the former teacher panicked that she was going to contact the cops.

Peterson, while writing to the teen, said: "So she’s planning on doing something with it.”

In another message, she wrote: "Pleas [sic] tell her it was the worst decision of my life and I know it was and idk where my brain was but that I somehow fell in love with you briefly and idk why and I’ll never be the same person because of it.”

Peterson even asked the teen if she should speak to his mother in an effort to prevent police officials from getting involved in the incident. Reports state that the former teacher even begged the student to "delete everything" from his phone, referring to the messages and photos sent by her.

The 27-year-old was arrested in Volusia County, Florida in February this year for engaging in sexual activity with a minor. According to the court documents, their romps began as early as November 2017.

According to Daytona Beach News-Journal, after her arrest earlier this year, Peterson on Tuesday pleaded guilty, as part of a plea deal, to lewd or lascivious battery sex act with a child and transmission of harmful material to minors by electronic means

Reports state that the former teacher is now facing a prison sentence for up to ten years, however, her attorney William Hathaway has said that she deserves a sentence of less than five years.

State Attorney’s Office spokesperson, while talking to the News-Journal, said that Peterson will now be required to register as a sex offender.
