After Taylor Swift announced she will be performing 'Betty' at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards, her new single began trending on Twitter.

According to reports, Swift confirmed she give a live debut performance of the song at the 55th Academy Of Country Music Awards in Nashville on September 16, marking her first time performing on any country awards show in seven years. “Bout to show up at your party @acmawards,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on September 13.

Fans can look forward to Swift singing from the stage of the Grand Oe Opry House which is the chosen venue for the ACM Awards this year and is one of three iconic Nashville venues.

'Betty' is the third single released from her new studio album 'Folklore'. What is especially notable about the album is that it sees Swift taking a sidestep from her pop style and leaning into more indie, particularly getting country sounds as well. Furthermore, the last time Swift sang on a country show, she hadn't officially announced she would be transitioning to pop music, as she did when her LP '1989' released in 2014.

In 2013, when the singer performed at the ACM Awards, she appeared as a guest artist on Tim McGraw's rendition of his song 'Highway Don't Care', along with Keith Urban. Additionally, it was that year that she performed for the last time on the CMA Awards.

After her latest announcement for the ACM Awards, fans were quick to share their support and excitement, leaving Twitter with a flood of comments. "So excited for BETTY," says a fan while another writes,  "COUNTRY TAYLOR RISE."

"'Betty' isn’t just a song, it’s a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world filled with thieves. it’s art, the first gift you open on christmas, a hug from a loved one, everything you’ve ever wanted, everything you’ve ever needed," says a fan.

One fan wrote, "Queen is coming back!!!! Where are the country boots!!!"

Even Twitter users who aren't Taylor Swift followers shared their respect and appreciation for 'Folklore'.

"I never listened to a @taylorswift13 album but the name Folklore made me curious. \ It was the strongest album I've heard by any artist for a few years. I didn't think it neatly fit any category. Not Pop, not Rock, not country. Maybe Americana?" said a user. Another added, "I'm not a taylor fan like that but I like the fact that she's going back those country roots. Good for her."
