Several people have criticized a 23-year-old teacher for being "too young" to be a parent after she and her husband adopted two teenage girls. In August 2020, Tasia Taylor and her American fiancé Drew Taylor got married.

In December 2022, they made the decision to adopt Tamiray, 15, and Rory, 13. The young mother has shared her experience on TikTok and says adopting has been one of the best decisions she's ever made.

'Empty nester at 28 sounds really good'

In a video, Taylor remarked that since the daughters will be able to leave by then, becoming an "empty nester at 28 sounds really good." The video has generated over 11 million views and nearly five thousand reactions excluding other related videos on her social media profile.

'It’s like adopting roommates'

However, not all are okay with the 'young couple' in their twenties having adopted teenagers. "It’s like adopting roommates," a user commented, the reaction has alone garnered over forty-five five thousand likes. "22 adopting teenagers?!?? that's wilddd. I'm 22 and still feel 18 sometimes 😭😭😭," one more wrote. "I don't know why my brain can't process this you guys look so young it's weird to see you with teens," one of the users wrote. "My only concern is a college fund for them bc there won't be enough time to make enough money by investing when they're babies," while another said.

One pointed out, "You must have more money than a lot of us afford two teenagers in your early 20s," Taylor responded by saying, "'I've had a job since I was 16 and worked all the way through college! We worked our butts off to get here and have multiple college degrees."

'This makes me so happy'

Although many were supportive and highlighted the cause of becoming foster parents and adopting teenagers. "This makes me so happy so many teens don’t get adopted, you guys are wonderful," wrote a user. Another said, "this is so ideal too. Closer in age, so you’ll have an understanding. No 18yr commitment but you still get to love them. Older kids get adopted." One user shared, "I was adopted at 14, thank you for giving foster teens a real home, they often age out of the system instead." In one of the videos, a user asked "Do you two ever plan on having babies? Or just fostering/adopting?" to which Taylor replied, "We’ve had multiple miscarriages."

'The world needs more people like you'

One showered his praise on the couple by saying, "I love people who are actually becoming the change." A user noted, "they actually look like both of y’all too." Another user said, "the world needs more people like you." One more shared, "My husband and I did the same thing! We are 32 and have 23, 22, and 21-year-old kids. Plus 2 grandchildren 😏"
