Gunman, 38, arrested for killing ex-wife, a man and injuring 2 others at Thanksgiving dinner in Houston

HOUSTON, TEXAS: A 38-year-old suspect was arrested by police on Saturday, October 26, and will also face two counts of capital murder and two counts of aggressive assault. This is for killing his ex-wife and a man as well as injuring two individuals, including a 15-year-old boy. The tragic incident happened on Thursday, November 24, on Thanksgiving day.
“The suspect, who is known to be the ex-husband of the deceased female, came in through the back door and just started firing at the people inside the house,” Houston Police Assistant Chief Patricia Cantu said at a press conference. The victims of the attack finished their thanksgiving dinner at 9 pm, after which the fatal shooting occurred at 9.18 pm. However, the identity of the suspect is not yet revealed by the police.

"There were four other people inside the house. As soon as they heard the shooting, they ran to the rooms for safety. The suspect discharged multiple rounds and even reloaded his weapon at the scene," Cantu said. She added, “This is a very sad situation; it’s Thanksgiving, and people are supposed to celebrate with their families." The 15-year-old boy who was injured is currently in stable condition. However, It’s unclear how the boy is related to the victims. Meanwhile, the police claim that the slain woman and the suspect have a child together reported Daily Beast. Another man, who is the fourth victim, has been hospitalized in critical condition. She added, “The suspect discharged multiple rounds and even reloaded his weapon at the scene."

Meanwhile, another fatal shooting happened on Thanksgiving day in Florida. As previously reported by MEAWW, a 73-year-old grandmother, identified by the family as Mattie Lou Jones was killed in a triple shooting on Thanksgiving day as she watched TV in her recliner. Police said the shooting occurred around 7.40 pm on Thursday evening in Stuart. Jones, a report said, was a former cook and mother-of-eight. The fatal gunshot passed through Jones' window and struck her in the face, according to Jones' granddaughter.
The police said that two more people were critically injured. As per the witnesses, two groups of young people were exchanging gunfire in the street at the time of the shooting which the family couldn't identify since being unknown. Jones was pronounced dead on their arrival at the hospital, reported WPBF. As per the report, Chief Tumminelli of the Stuart Police Department said, "Stuart Police Detectives are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on 10th Street at 7.40 pm on Thanksgiving evening. Three individuals were shot, two critically and one is deceased. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no other information will be released at this time."
