Mattie Lou Jones: 73-year-old Florida grandmom killed in Thanksgiving triple shooting while watching TV
STUART, FLORIDA: A 73-year-old grandmother, identified by the family as Mattie Lou Jones was killed in a triple shooting on Thanksgiving day as she watched TV in her recliner. Police said the shooting occurred around 7.40 pm on Thursday evening in Stuart. Jones, a report said, was a former cook and mother-of-eight. The fatal gunshot passed through Jones' window and struck her in the face, according to Jones' granddaughter.
The police said that two more people were critically injured. As per the witnesses, two groups of young people were exchanging gunfire in the street at the time of the shooting which the family couldn't identify since being unknown. Jones was pronounced dead on their arrival at the hospital, reported WPBF.

Authorities have said that they will not release any additional information at this time as they want to protect the integrity of the investigation. As per the report, Chief Tumminelli of the Stuart Police Department said, "Stuart Police Detectives are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on 10th Street at 7.40 pm on Thanksgiving evening. Three individuals were shot, two critically and one is deceased. To protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no other information will be released at this time".
Social media reactions on Facebook to the post by the police department were heartbreaking with people refusing to believe the news, "Unbelievable so lost for words... ." Another commented, "This is just too much anymore.. I remember being safe in my state. It’s becoming so I don’t." Many expressed sympathies with the family and said that the hatred was just sad and heartbreaking. One user noted that Jones was a dedicated grandma, "I am so sad to hear this. Miss Maddie Jones was a good woman. I had one of her grandchildren in my pre-k class. A very dedicated grandma. RIP Miss Maddie." One pointed out the killer was at large, "Since it doesn't say you have a suspect in custody, we should assume there is a killer at large?
