25,000 fans watch Super Bowl from the stadium, Internet says 'what the f**k are we doing?'
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning Super Bowl LV is yet to sink in for most people across the world, except that it wasn't the only thing on people's mind about the match. The Raymond James Stadium reportedly had an attendance of 25,000 fans and this baffled viewers watching the game from home. That the multitude flocked to the stadium despite the Covid-19 pandemic was something people found shocking. The event saw the Bucs win 31-9 over the Kansas City Chiefs on February 8.
As per a Yahoo report, the annual event allowed 25,000 fans to watch the game in-stadia even as most sports are letting spectators in limited numbers to watch the games. The site said 7,500 of the people in attendance were healthcare workers, while the stadium had 30,000 cut-outs of people watching the game. However, the discussion on social media was that way too many people were at the arena to watch the Super Bowl.
Reactions weren't pleasant as netizens slammed those in attendance. "Wait. The super bowl was with a live audience of 25000 people? We’re in a fucking pandemic you morons wtf @ usa," read one of the tweets. This was seconded by another who wrote, "telling me that the 25000 people attending the Super Bowl are healthcare workers does not make me feel better about this undoubtedly bad idea."

"i cant believe they had 25000 people in that stadium. fuck the super bowl and fuck florida dude oh my god," a viewer lashed out. Mockery eased its way in with a fan saying: "if you haven’t heard from me all day it’s because I’ve been trying to drown out the super bowl pandemonium because like 25000 people just showed up in my neighborhood and i’m like the old man yelling at the kids to get off of his fuckin lawn".
The opinions continued to trickle. "I’m not sure but I think having 25000 people watch the Super Bowl in person during a pandemic a bad idea even if it’s held in a stadium that normally holds 55000 people," a fan remarked. "wait wait wait there were 25000 FUCKING PEOPLE AT THE SUPER BOWL??? WHAT THE FUCK ARE WE DOING???" a fan slammed the spectators.
"25000 people at the Super Bowl yet having 25 people in a restaurant, coffee shop, business here in Canada will get you fined or even thrown into jail," one of the comments read.
