Super Bowl LIV: Here are the 5 best ads from the Big Game night and the 5 that failed to impress

It's that time of the year again when the best brands of America feature at the game night and here is our take on what's hot and what's not

Super Bowl is not just a game night, it's a national day! Whether you like football or not, you will invariably find yourself drooling over the hottest teams and floored by A-list celebrities at the halftime show on the particular Sunday night. And while you are at it, you will also be swept into the wave of the coolest commercials from the biggest brands of the country, each trying to top the other with their "big idea". This year, Super Bowl LIV brought some ads that are not just a feast for the eyes, but also creatively genius.

So without much ado, let us run you through our favorites of Super Bowl LIV.

#1 Pringles featuring Rick-and-Morty

Why we love it

Because, one, we are super fans of the quirky duo and two, we all love Pringles and three, it is smart! Rick and Morty are stuck in a commercial (within the commercial) and try to get out of it. The ad marks the launch of their latest 'Pickle Rick' flavor. So, that's the fourth reason.

#2 Rocket Mortgage featuring Jason Momoa

Why we love it

If one ad this season could be called "unbelievable", then it’s this one. And yes, of course, it is because of Jason Momoa and what we saw him doing. Seeing the 'real man' behind all the muscles and hair might take you by surprise, but that is the idea.

#3 Michelob Ultra featuring John Cena and Jimmy Fallon

Why we love it

Nothing speaks "entertainment" as much as the celebrity show host himself. Fallon's funny side always gets us and this time it is him trying to train with Cena, while Usain Bolt, Brooks Koepka, Kerri Walsh Jennings, Brooke Sweat and The Roots keep cheering him. It's fun, it's enjoyable and that's what makes it worth it, just as the brand claim.

#4 Cheetos featuring MC Hammer

Why we love it

It’s Hammer, it’s Cheetos, and it’s nostalgic! The award-winning track of the 90s makes us want to go back in time and watch the rap legend grooving in his baggy pants. But what’s special about this ad is Cheetos' comeback to Super Bowl after almost a decade. And they are launching Cheetos Popcorn!

#5 Hyundai 'Smaht Pahk' featuring Rachel Dratch, Chris Evans, John Krasinski, David Ortiz

Why we love it

It's not the accent, it’s the people that make it likeable. Did you know these four celebs featured in the ad were Bostonians? You’d think that "Smaht Pahk" is over the top but then not every car commercial has to be high-octane (not that we are naming any) and sometimes, three funny personalities chatting about parking can also be funny, while the fourth one pops in. It's almost like watching a comedy sketch.

And here are a few of those commercials that we thought we could easily do without. You might want to just skip them.

Coca-Cola featuring Martin Scorsese and Johan Hill

What’s wrong?

Nothing actually. But it is star power wasted. We would rather have Scorsese stick to creating films and not being on them.

Amazon Prime featuring Ellen Degeneres and Portia Rossi

What’s wrong?

'Life before Alexa' through ages could easily come out as it is, without these ladies cushioning the 'celeb' angle.

Facebook Group featuring Sylvester Stallone and Chris Rock

What’s wrong?

Too pushy for the social media giant to promote an almost dying feature of its network.

Tide featuring Michael Day

What’s wrong?

He might be great at his eccentricity but there’s no other big idea here, completely from a technical point of view.

Hard Rock Hotel featuring JLo, Pitbull and DJ Khaled

What’s wrong?

The idea of showing around a luxury casino hotel is to actually run people through the property. Chasing a masked Khaled with a little help from Pitbull and others might be all colorful, funny and a treat for the eyes, but we miss out on the actual brand features for which the ad was made in the first place.

And that’s a wrap for Super Bowl 2020 commercials. Stay tuned while we bring you more stories on the Big Game night.
