MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Sunny Hostin, 'The View' co-host, has been blasted for saying White women who vote Republican are like “roaches voting for Raid". The 54-year-old passed the remark on Thursday's episode, November 3, of the ABC daytime show. The discussion during which she made the comment was about next week’s midterm elections.

Hostin expressed surprise at the fact that women may be voting for lawmakers who celebrated the recent overturning of Roe v Wade. “The abortion issue. I read a poll that white, suburban women are now voting going to vote Republican. It's almost like roaches voting for Raid. They are voting against their own self-interest. Do they want to live in Gilead? Do they want to live in The Handmaid's Tale?” Hostin remarked. Republican co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, however, rejected the comparison, saying, "that’s insulting to the voter!”

"Do we love democracy or not? People make up decisions on what's right for their family," Griffin said. "The idea that you should have a say for everyone else's vote... You had a different view on abortion not that long ago."

"I have that view. I am Catholic. That is my faith. I believe that abortion is wrong - for me. There is a separation between government and church," Hostin replied. "I do not have the right to tell someone else. They are voting against their own self interest."

Meanwhile, Sara Haines seemed disappointed and lamented Democrats for failing to successfully help voters overcome fears over crime. She admitted that Republicans are stronger on messaging. She said, "I would say the Republicans are [winning the messaging battle.] I tend to vote independent and left. This is what's frustrating me right now...the issues we're seeing the most is inflation - that's low hanging fruit, any party in control during a bad economy is going to be blamed - but then crime and abortion are the other two top issues. The problem with the crime is, the only thing the left is saying, is 'it's a right-wing talking point, it's nothing.'"

She added, "I don't believe the left is light on crime but what people say matters to them. You can't dismiss them. If they say there's crime, it doesn't even matter what the statistics are, if they feel unsafe, you have to answer that. The left is not soft on crime. Only super far progressives might believe in alternatives to police and all these weird things, but the majority of people that are moderate and left are not soft on crime. Answer the question though don't say, 'the right's making it up', say 'I hear you, and this is what I'll do.'"

Haines also said that above women's rights, the top issue for her was "election deniers". "It used to be just Donald Trump, now it's everyone running on the Republican side. That scares me more than anything. Even women's rights is second for me," she said.

Joy Behar said, "You're not voting for Republicans, you're voting for a cult! Remember that. It's a cult. It's not Republicans anymore!" "Well, there are some Republicans like Alyssa," said Sunny Hostin.

'Will she face any consequences?'

Social media fumed after Hostin likened women who vote Republican to “roaches voting for Raid". "I can't believe Sunny Hostin, compared GOP women to roaches! She said we were like roaches voting for Raid! She's just a vile pi*, voting for jacka****," one user wrote on Twitter. "I'm willing to bet a large percentage of The View's audience are white suburban women and Sunny Hostin just called them roaches. I hope they lose every last one of those viewers," said another. One user remarked, "The racism from @Sunny Hostin is out of control. @ABCNewsPR will she face any consequences for calling white women "roaches"?"

"@ABCNetwork if you don’t fire Sunny Hostin for referring to white suburban women as “Roaches” for wanting to vote their choice based on the issues, you should really take a good a close look at your standards. This is beyond shameful," one user said, while another wrote, "Disgusting human being Sunny Hostin saying white women are like roaches. The entire View show should be taken off air. These people are absolute racists." "When is @ABCNetwork going to do something about disgusting @sunny Sunny Hostin calling suburban women roaches? Bottom line…..you don’t talk about entire groups of people in that way. It’s divisive…..and Kimberly Godwin or Craig Erwich need to do something about her soon!" wrote another.
