What is Carl Radke's NSFW secret? Meet 'Summer House' star who tried hard to let go of his drinking problem
Regardless of whether one's working a reality show or fiction, the deepest, most personal emotions have to be kept in check. Same with Carl Radke of 'Summer House', who seemed to be having the time of his life with friends at the Hamptons house but controversies never left him.
Carl's NSFW secret
On the show he was already having to deal with a lot of grief that came from his new girlfriend Lindsay Hubbard. Even though they tried to spice up their relationship by getting physically intimate, let us tell you it didn't work. They tried to keep it a secret for a long time but Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula knew what was going on with the lovebirds. In one of the Season 4 episodes, as Kyle and Amanda were driving to the summer house, he recalled: "Carl was like, 'Dude, I don't even know how to tell you this, but I fingered Lindsay!'"
Lindsay and Carl were best of friends before they decided to take their relationship to the next level. While that was already a red flag, what didn't help was them spending a lot of time explaining their relationship to friends than putting in the work that was needed to keep their connection afloat.
He lost his brother
But that was not what damaged Carl, albeit briefly. He was shattered and in grief as he announced the news of his older brother Curtis's death on Instagram. "A couple of weeks ago, my brother Curtis passed away after a life-long battle with mental illness and addiction," he wrote and added: "Losing my big brother is something I never could have imagined, and the sense of loss is even greater."
Carl had a drinking problem?
He is sober now. By his own admission, he had hit the bottle to cope with personal and professional losses. Whether it had to do with Curtis's death is unclear but he did mention his relationship fails as one of the many reasons why he took to drinking. "I'm a human being. I make mistakes, but it's been a rough season, a little bit, for me," Carl told Marshall Sandman of Spilling The QuaranTea.
What happened when he took therapy?
Carl admitted to having gone for therapy sessions but never spoke the whole truth until recently. Talking to The Publissity Podcast, the reality TV star said that he had never shared about the drugs and party scenes he was involved in. "I was basically lying, I was playing a version in therapy of what I thought needed to be addressed, and it’s just like I was very afraid to be completely honest," Radke further shared and added that he was still the "fun Carl" minus the thousand beverages.
What's Carl's job and net worth?
Season 3 was particularly frustrating for the 35-year-old New Yorker who had just lost a job and searching for a new one was turning out to be quite the chore. However, he eventually snagged a position with Spotfund, a social impact company. He is now working as a Sales Business Developer for Kyle and Amanda's drinks company, Loverboy. From his TV show paychecks and sales job, Carl's net worth is $250,000, Cheatsheet reported.
