'Suits' season 9 episode 3 preview: How will Donna and Harvey's relationship pan out with the firm in dire straits?

'Suits' Season 9 has been a pacy affair so far. The final season picked up with Manhattan Corporate Law Firm, Zane Specter Litt Wheeler Williams down in the doldrums. The firm is currently facing uncertainty after Robert Zane (Wendell Pierce) fell out with the Bar Association to save Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht), and ended up being disbarred, a move that has left each of the team members in dire straits.
Speaking of which, the situation has also had its impact on Harvey and Donna Paulsen (Sarah Rafferty). Fans got their wish granted when the two finally got together; a love story that took eleven years to materialize. Barring the brief bits of quality time, the couple haven't really got a chance to enjoy their relationship, as bad news dropped in one after the other.
It's no secret that the relationship at the moment is pretty fragile. The couple may have known each other inside out but with the firm's current situation, and the dedication and pride that these two put on the table also mean compromising on the time that they get to spend together. And, the fact that the fate of the firm rests in their hands may just probably weigh them down and hopefully, it doesn't come to a point where the romance (touchwood) is short-lived.
Plus, the arrival of Special Master, Faye Richardson (Denise Crosby) has already sent shockwaves in the firm. Her intentions are crystal clear; clean up the firm, and restore the tarnished reputation. The second one really doesn't sit well with the team and it takes a lot of convincing from Harvey to ensure that Robert's name will still be part of the firm once Faye is out of the picture.
With Faye bent on doing her job, it is evident that she sees Donna and Harvey as key players who would help her sort the mess that the firm is in. Meaning, more work with Faye and less downtime for the couple. Again, looking at the way the two approach tasks, they just might have to be content with the odd, but welcome breaks they get in between for some quality time.
Conversely, the situation the firm is in may also mean that we may witness the best that Donna and Harvey may have to offer. Their time together has been a solid decade-and-a-year, and that means they are ready for war. Combine Donna's formidable mind, extensive knowledge about the firm, plus the razor-sharp wit and Harvey's immense self-belief, loyalty and the 'best closer' abilities will ensure that they will bail the firm out of the situation it is in right now.
And we're pretty sure that the couple will pretty much be near-damn indestructible when they team up and honestly, that's what the firm needs right now. But again, it's still a wafer-thin relationship and it remains to be seen how things pan out for the two characters by the end of the season.
