Lifetime is known for bringing intriguing thrillers to its viewers. The channel's upcoming true-crime thriller 'Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story' follows the real-life story of a mother of two and a former fertility nurse from Woodbridge, New Jersey, who killed her husband to continue an alleged affair.

In 2007, Melanie McGuire was convicted of murdering her husband, dismembering his body, dividing it into several suitcases, and dumping them off a bridge in 2004. Prosecutors said she killed her NJIT computer programmer husband William McGuire so she could begin a relationship with a doctor at the clinic where she worked. Currently, McGuire is serving a life sentence at Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton. She maintains that she is not guilty and has unsuccessfully tried to appeal her conviction. Here's what we know about the Lifetime thriller movie so far.

What is 'Suitcase Killer: The Melanie McGuire Story' all about?

Based on a real-life incident, the Lifetime thriller revolves around Melanie McGuire who wanted to start a new life with her new lover. Instead of talking to her husband about it or continuing to sneak around, she drugged and killed her 39-year-old husband Navy veteran William "Bill" McGuire in cold blood. After murdering her husband, she dismembered his body with a power saw, packed them into three suitcases, and threw them into the Chesapeake Bay. Melanie McGuire wasn't arrested until over a year later when the suitcases surfaced in Virginia. She was found guilty and the former nurse remains held at the troubled Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Clinton, where she is serving a life sentence.
