While Hollywood is under the spotlight for its treatment of non-male people and people of color, there is one category that is often overlooked: Stunt people. Hollywood's cinema is defined by stunts -- think of the biggest franchises and you can be pretty sure that stuntmen and stuntwomen do a lot of work in them, like the 'Fast and Furious' and Marvel's 'Avengers' franchises. However, aside from the fact that stuntpeople are not honored at some of Hollywood's biggest award ceremonies -- as they should be -- there is rampant racism and sexism within the industry. In the 20th century, many directors would prefer not to hire stuntwomen and would instead use stuntmen donning makeup and wigs.

We may not know their names, but we definitely know the work of the many stuntwomen in Hollywood -- be it the car flip in 'The Host' starring Saoirse Ronan or Scarlett Johanssen's many remarkable actions as the Black Widow in Marvel's 'Avengers' series of movies. A new documentary directed by April Wright is set to change that as she brings the documentary 'Stuntwomen: The Untold Story' to tell the stories of these women who are as capable as their male counterparts, yet are overlooked for the reasons that women usually are.

The documentary will be available on VOD on September 22 and features prominent Hollywood stuntwomen while being narrated by an action heroine we know and love. Read on to meet the host and some of the stuntwomen who are featured in the documentary.
