'Stranger Things' Season 5: Will Hopper die? David Harbour addresses his character's fate
Apart from defeating Vecna, one of the most interesting storylines in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 was about bringing Jim Hopper back home. Almost all of us watched the super-sized season till the end as the uncertainty of who lives and who dies was scary. We witnessed a lot of deaths in the latest season. The death of Eddie Munson made us upset the most and fans have already started petitions to bring the character back on the show. However, one of the finest moments of Season 4 happened when we saw Hopper was alive and was in the captivity of Russian soldiers.
Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) made a plan to bring Hopper back to Hawkins. They try to bring him back by taking the assistance of a Russian man named Yuri, but he ditches them and gives their information to the Russian authorities. On the other hand, Hopper, and his ally Dmitri, are moved to another cell, and when it feels like they have lost the chance to get back. But they find a way to get out of the prison and after a tense battle with Demogorgons, they all make their way to Hawkins where everyone else is waiting for them.

With Season 5 being the last one, several stars of the show have revealed that there will be a lot of deaths in the last season. A lot of fans of the show feel that Harbour’s character might be one of those who die in the upcoming edition. After hearing a lot of things about his character’s death, actor David Harbour discussed his future on the show and revealed that there were times he felt that his character should die on the show.
While speaking to Variety, Harbour said, “There were several times I thought he should die. I certainly thought that in the beginning, because he was so destroyed and hell-bent on destruction. Then when it seemed like he went in Season 3, I was happy for him.”
However, things have changed now and Harbour believes that it feels good to have Hopper still on the show, but he doesn’t know what the writers and makers will do with him. He added, “As he’s being resurrected as the man he wants to become, it would almost be nicer to keep him alive. Let’s see what they choose.”
The Hopper we saw in Season 4 has changed drastically from the guy we saw in the first edition. He lost a lot of weight because of what he has gone through and wants to be with the people he loves. Luckily, Hopper got out of Russia and finally made it to Hawkins. He met Eleven and had a very emotional reunion with his close ones. However, their reunion was cut by a massive cloud of doom as Vecna announced his return. The stakes will be higher than ever in Season 5 and we might see some of the major characters losing their lives.
‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 is the second most-watched Netflix series of all time with 1.15 billion hours of viewing time and also shattered Nielsen streaming records by racking up 7.2 billion minutes of streaming from May 30 to June 5.
