#STFUHillary trends after Clinton's 'whining', criticism of Bernie Sanders's 2016 election campaign resurfaces

Former Democratic presidential nominee and secretary of state, Hillary Clinton has made it no secret that she is not a big fan of Senator Bernie Sanders, who stood against her for the Democratic party's nomination for the 2016 presidential elections. In a four-part Hulu documentary that premiered in March this year, 'Hillary', Clinton did not shy away from making her dislike of the Vermont senator clear.

"Honestly, Bernie just drove me crazy,” she said early in the second episode. “He was in Congress for years. He had one senator support him (in the 2016 primary). Nobody likes him. Nobody wants to work with him. He got nothing done. He was a career politician. He did not work until he was like 41, and then he got elected to something. It was all just baloney and I feel so bad that people got sucked into it.”

When Clinton's comments were made public early this year, despite criticism, she stood by her comments. "It wasn’t just him, it was his major supporters, his online advocates. They were relentless, ruthless, in not just attacking me but people who supported me,” she said. “Some of the groups of women that formed, like Pantsuit Nation, to support me during the campaign were so barraged with vile attacks that they made themselves private groups."

She added, "There was just something about what he not only motivated but accepted in how he talked about me and how he allowed others to talk about me, that I found deeply offensive. And he seems to turn a blind eye, to approve, the same kind of behavior with respect to how other candidates, particularly women candidates, are being treated online by his rabid followers.”

After the Los Angeles Times' latest interview with Clinton and subsequent tweeting of the comments from her January interview, social media erupted in support of Sanders as people asked the former first lady to stop "whining" about the 2016 elections after mistaking the news to be recent.

One user wrote, "#STFUHillary We’re in the middle of a pandemic, people are rioting on the streets, Biden just got the nomination and Hillary is still whining about 2016. You lost because you were a terrible candidate, not because Bernie was mean." Another said, "Glad that during a pandemic, massive unemployment, protests, countless videos of police brutality this past week alone, Hillary made sure to take time and focus on what matters most: Herself. #STFUHillary." A third wrote, "Not sure why #STFUHillary is trending but I'd just like to say that Hillary needs to shut the ENTIRE F**K UP."

Some users smelled a conspiracy, as one tweeted, "Trumptards trying to deflect and change focus from #Trump to #STFUHillary." Another wrote, "We're in the midst of a pandemic, the Potus has declared war on America, but y'all gotta dunk on HRC with #STFUHillary on both sides of the aisle. Man, you people are getting played. Seriously I wonder what Hillary did to Putin. Probably saw his winkie and laughed her ass off."

A user tweeted, "#STFUHillary is trending because it’s all Sanders supporters have left after their candidate failed twice. They are bitter and want to help elect Trump, again." Another expressed, "#STFUHillary is trending. The DNC is so tone deaf they’ll probably encourage her to become Biden's running mate. The liberal lemmings will follow suit and they'll lose bigly (again) and blame Russia for it."
