LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Stephen Colbert humorously stated that Lara Trump is upholding the family name with her rendition of Tom Petty’s 1989 popular song 'I Won’t Back Down'.

On Thursday, the host of 'The Late Show' showcased a clip of the ex-president’s daughter-in-law performing the line "you can stand me up at the gates of hell but I won’t back down" during her recent feature on Sky News Australia.

"Well I’ve never been to the gates of hell but now I’m pretty sure I know what they sound like," Colbert joked.

The host of 'The Late Show' also responded to the studio recording of the newly released cover from a 'Kirkland brand Gwyneth Paltrow' earlier in his monologue.

"Chilling. You can hear the whole track on the new compilation album 'Now That’s What Lara Trump Claims Is Music! Vol. 1! – On A Horse,'" Colbert commented on the song's cover art, which features horses.

″It’s hard to tell but there’s so much autotune there that I think it might’ve been the horse singing."

Following the release of the song, Lara Trump and her husband Eric Trump accused streaming services of shadow-banning the music.

"They wouldn’t put my song on the radio 'cause it was too 'political,'" Lara Trump said on Fox News. Colbert retorted, "Yes, too political, her singing has been legally designated as domestic terrorism."

Fans react to Lara Trump singing Tom Petty song

Lara Trump's singing and Colberts remarks sparked immediate response from fans.

One user on YouTube commented, "Tom Petty's family issued a Cease and Desist to Lara Trump regarding her horrid cover. So yeah, don't expect it to show up anywhere, Lara."

Another user claimed, "When you said Australian news gave Lara Trump a chance to sing live, my first thought was "what moron news group would give her that chance?", then I saw Sky News on the screen and was like "oh, yeah. Those losers. Forgot about them"

"You don't have to tell anyone that you're not a professional singer Lara. It's ABUNDANTLY clear," noted another user.

One person quipped, "Tom Petty is turning over in his grave from laughing so hard."

"AS A REPUBLICAN The petty family needs to sue her of disrespecting a great song," wrote another.
