Stephen Colbert clapped back at President Donald Trump on 'The Late Show' on Tuesday, April 21, for tweeting the following early in the morning and catching senior members of the Department of Homeland security off guard.

"In light of the attack from the Invisible Enemy, as well as the need to protect the jobs of our GREAT American Citizens, I will be signing an Executive Order to temporarily suspend immigration into the United States!"

Colbert noted that even though he doesn't necessarily agree with this decision, it is in the best interest of the immigrants as the United States right now is equivalent to "a Petri dish on the floor of a bus station men's room".

He also mentioned that this move is going to do nothing to control the spread of the virus as Trump has been speaking about reopening the country and its businesses sooner than the deadline of May 1.

Colbert said that this is just another excuse for him to do what he always wanted to do, referring to Trump's well-publicized issues with immigrants.

Colbert also mentioned that Trump is probably more xenophobic that the 28th President Woodrow Wilson whose campaign slogan was "Let's punch an Italian" but the USA, in his presidency, allowed 110,000 immigrants into the country during the height of the 1918 flu pandemic.

The host also gaped shockingly over Trump announcing a "sweeping change" in the National Immigration Policy via a tweet and noted that it would be like former President Obama announcing Osama Bin Laden's death on TikTok.

Colbert said that the tweet had absolutely no information as to how he plans to change the policies and it was more about the President promoting that day's press briefing — reality show style.

"Here's a teaser of my new executive order. Am I really going to ban all immigrants? Will I throw wine of Steve Mnuchin's face and call him a b***ch. gotta tune in to find out.." said Colbert while doing his best Trump impression.

He also called out Trump for tweeting that his news conference ratings are through the roof surpassing Monday night football and 'The Bachelor'. Colbert was aghast at the comparison and noted that everyone's ratings are better than Monday night football.

In the press conference from Monday night, a reporter told Trump about someone she interviewed who told her that he got sick because the President wasn't taking it seriously and mentioned if the President was wearing a mask and had asked everyone to stay home, he would've done so.

The reporter asked the President if he's concerned that downplaying the virus made people sick? To which Trump just replied, "A lot of people love Trump..to the best of my knowledge I won.. and we will win again."

Colbert played the clip from the same conference where the reporter reminded him that he held rallies in February and March to which the President clearly denied remembering anything of that sort.

Later Colbert also brought attention to the fact the Trump tried to thank the FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) but "his brain done got in the way" before playing the clip wherein Trump thanks FIFA instead, the soccer governing body.
