After the death of Twitch streamer Steffie Gregg at 26 due to Covid-19 complications, many of her fans and pals paid her tributes. This included Machester City football player Raheem Sterling, who paid tribute to his late friend after he scored in England’s 4-0 win in Hungary on Thursday, September 2.

The British footballer took off his shirt and unveiled a message which read ‘Love you forever Steffie Gregg’ before he was roundly booed and pelted with drinks. Sterling tweeted a picture of his shirt in memory of Gregg with the caption: “This one was for you SVG.” Back in May 2018, Steffie posted a picture on Instagram of her at the Etihad Stadium wearing a ‘Sterling 7’ shirt. Some of the other social media personalities who recently passed away include Caitlyn Loane, Anthony Barajas, and Kubra Dogan

Following her death, many people were curious to find out more about the streamer's background and family. As it turns out, Steffie's family is quite well known in Jamaica.

Who is Gary Gregg?

Despite her growing reputation as a gamer and content maker, Steffie was best known for being the daughter of former racer Gary Gregg. Gary was also a businessman. Together, her family owned B.D. Gregg and Bro. Limited, which is one of the Caribbean's leading retailers and distributors of custom automobile wheels and accessories.

According to Facebook profile, he lives in Kingston, Jamaica, and attended Priory school. He is not active on Facebook and his last post was in 2015. However, he is active on Instagram. He has a little over 3K followers on the platform. Despite that, he has not spoken out about his daughter's death. His last post was on July 31, when he congratulated the Jamaican women's track team on their 100m Olympic win.

It is clear from both Gary and Steffie's Instagram accounts that the dad-daughter duo was very close. On June 12, Steffie wished Gary, "Happy Birthday Daddyyy" followed by an array of heart emojis, adding, "Love you more than anything in this worlddd." In the post, she posed with her brother, Kyle, who is also into racing, and her father. Likewise, Gary also wished Steffie on her birthday, posting a picture of her on January 4, writing, "Happy Birthday to my Beautiful Daughter who is so caring, loving, humble but don’t get on her wrong side."

In fact, theirs was a close-knit family as they constantly posted pictures of each other on their social media pages. Recently, Gary marked his anniversary with his wife by posing in the ocean with her. "Happy Anniversary to my AMAZING Wife. Love you endlessly," wrote on July 16. In the same month, he was joined by his son on a trip to the Bahamas. From his page, it was also revealed that he was into biking and bird hunting.

How did Steffie Gregg die?

One of the people who revealed the news of Steffie's death was Dancehall producer Rvssian, who also happens to be her uncle. He took to his Instagram page to share the tragic news alongside a photo of him posing with the 26-year-old social media personality.

Rvssian wrote in his post: “I feel helpless my little Steffie @svg876_ I feel I failed you and couldn’t protect you from this.. COVID is REAL, You don’t know until it hits home I lost you & daddy in the same week. You were one of the happiest persons Ever & always had a great vibe & you lit the room up with your energy. You taught my daughter adri the wine dance moves haha you guys remind me so much of each other. The hardest part was explaining to her that she will never be with you again was so hard when she cried out for you She loved you so much and looked up to you. It broke my heart …when u was a 6/7 years old me & xav & kyle use to say we would always have the shotgun ready for any of the boys who bother you. But you grew into a beautiful young lady who had all them at your feet, and we use to laugh about that together. Your mom is one of the strongest women I know & you got that from her - literal twins… I promise to take care of her for you because she lost her dad and you her daughter in one week and that can break anyone."

He added: "I’ll NEVER FORGET the LAST TIME you was with my dad you guys went off in the corner to bun a spliff together and bond “grandpa me have a little ting roll up for us” now you and him are together, I know he will take good care of you, but it wasn’t your time!! So young and didn’t get to live out the plans you had. I will miss playing WARZONE with you and Naldo. Never ever thought I would be seeing people write rip comments under your photos, that made me sick u were just in my studio with me getting your new video game tattoo.. I’ll never forget you & I can’t stop hearing your voice in my head. Kiss daddy for me too. Love you forever Steffie"

Dance Hall Magazine has also reported that Gregg suffered from an autoimmune disease which led to complications when she contracted Covid-19. She passed away on Tuesday, August 31.
