'Station 19' Season 4 Episode 9: Why are fans comparing Vic to 'Grey's Anatomy's Callie?
They're both gorgeous, smart, confident women with killer smiles, but that's not the only reason fans are comparing Vic (Barrett Doss) on 'Station 19' with Callie of 'Grey's Anatomy' (Sara Ramirez). Vic has found herself in quite a dilemma, not quite of her own doing. It turns out that the firefighter Theo Ruiz (Carlos Miranda) she has been on the verge of dating is the same firefighter who her friend Travis (Jay Hayden) holds responsible for his husband Michael's death.
Travis in the last episode walked in on Vic and Ruiz in an intimate moment. However, he didn't realize that Vic had actually come to call it off with Ruiz. This leads to Travis feeling extremely betrayed and could possibly spell the end of their friendship.

'Station 19' and 'Grey's Anatomy' share quite a crossover of fans, who are noticing some similarities between Vic and Ruiz's tortured relationship and that of Callie and Penny's relationship on 'Grey's Anatomy'. To refresh your memories Callie was dating Penny, the surgeon who treated Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) after his car accident. While it wasn't her fault alone that Derek didn't survive, she ended up bearing the brunt of Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) grief and rage after her husband's death. Penny, however, is unaware of Callie's friendship with Meredith and it is only after the two start dating that the difficult truth emerges, at a dinner party no less.
One fan on YouTube says, "Feels like Meredith when she told everyone about Penny". Others echoed the sentiment saying, "This kinda reminds me of "perfect penny killed my husband". But i still can't wait to see it."
In the dinner party episode, Penny tries repeatedly to get Callie to leave the party, but Callie, thinking it was just nerves, insisted that Penny stay. Meredith initially keeps quiet about the connection, but the truth soon comes tumbling out to everyone's shock. Penny later approaches Meredith and offers to transfer to another hospital. But Meredith clearly being the bigger person, refuses to let that happen and tells her she'll see her on Monday. Callie and Penny's relationship then deepens, but ultimately they break it off for reasons that have nothing to do with Meredith.
So will Travis, like Meredith, eventually be able to see beyond his pain and forgive his friend and Theo as well? Well, that may take a while yet, after all, Meredith was able to forgive perhaps because the wounds were not as fresh as they are in Travis's case. Fans are also keen to hear both sides of the tale and get more details on what exactly happened to Travis's husband. Is Travis blaming Theo unfairly? One fan says, "I think there's more to Michael's death than we know, we've only heard it from Travis' side so it will be nice to hear from Ruiz's side too."
