It probably takes quite a lot to make a surgeon and a fireman nervous, but nervous is exactly what Benjamin Warren (Jason George) is as he heads into surgery to make a definitive cancer diagnosis. It's an even more nerve-wracking situation considering wife Dr Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) can't be by his side as she has to conduct an emergency surgery at her hospital.

But help comes unexpectedly from Andy Herrera after Ben calls her and her husband, Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe). Andy comes to be with Ben at the hospital and says her father who struggled with cancer would have wanted her to be with Ben.

When Ben goes into surgery, for a terrifying minute it seems like he is awake during his surgery. One fan tweeted, "Ben Warren better be okay. Don't let nothing happen to him in his surgery #Station19@Station19"

It turns out thankfully that Ben is not actually awake on the table, but is having a series of hallucinations in which his alter egos conspire to tell him that getting this surgery will make him less of a man. That with the drop in testosterone he will not be able to be a firefighter anymore. The hallucinations had fans seeing double, and also admiring actor Jason George's acting prowess. One fan tweeted, "Me trying to figure what the hell is going on right now like #Station19".

Ben's mother appears in the hallucination and he asks her what is she doing there. She tells him that she knows he is scared and when children are scared their mothers appear. Ben then talks about how George Floyd also called out for his mother and says touchingly 'We all heard it'. Ben's mother then tells him that the surgery will not make him less of a man, it will make him not be a dead man. Ben thankfully comes out of surgery unscathed and is greeted outside the hospital by Maya, Carina and the rest of his crew from 'Station 19'. To find out what the diagnosis of Ben's cancer detection surgery is, you can tune in to the next episode of 'Station 19' on Thursday at 8 pm on ABC.
