'Star Wars' Disney+ series 'The Mandalorian' could finally reveal Supreme Leader Snoke and First Order's true origins

We still don't know where Snoke came from or how he managed to gain control over the First Order. Those events are set in a period of time that is yet to be fully explored in the movies but we could still get some information on those early days once 'The Mandalorian' finally lands on Disney+

Even as 'Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker' prepares to bring the grand saga of the Skywalker bloodline to an end, there are still a lot of things we're yet to find out about the sequel trilogy's primary antagonists, the First Order. However, with the upcoming Disney+ series 'The Mandalorian', which is set between the events of 'Star Wars: Return of the Jedi' and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens', we finally have a chance to learn more about the true origins of the First Order and their mysterious monarch, Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis).

Mostly envisioned as a metaphor for the Nazis who escaped prosecution at the end of World War II and fled to safe havens in South America, the First Order began as a remnant of the old Empire. Brought down from their former glory and reduced to reigning over a few worlds on the fringes of the galaxy, this Imperial Remnant rebuilt their armies in secret for decades, hiding from the New Republic and quietly sowing discord in the galaxy.

At some point, the group that would eventually become the First Order began to receive support from the political opponents of Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) who believed the galaxy required a firm hand in order to prevent it from descending into chaos as it did under the Old Republic. With the support of these rebel senators, these last vestiges of the Empire reorganized themselves and began going by the name "the First Order".

This much we know from both the movies and tie-in material, however, there's still a lot that we don't know about the First Order, specifically how they went from being a highly weakened military state to becoming a force capable of consuming the whole galaxy under the command of Supreme Leader Snoke. The origins and true identity of the Supreme Leader are still a mystery and fans are still busy speculating what connections Snoke might have to the Empire and the Sith.

Snoke is quite clearly shown to be a formidable Force-wielder with a deep understanding of the workings of the dark side but he doesn't seem to follow Sith traditions and customs. Most notably, Snoke ignored the Sith Rule of Two, which states that there can only ever be two Sith Lords, by creating an army of elite force-users called the Knights of Ren.

We still don't know where Snoke came from or how he managed to gain control over the First Order. Those events are set in a period of time that is yet to be fully explored in the movies but thankfully we could still get some information on those early days once 'The Mandalorian' finally lands on Disney+.

'The Mandalorian' will arrive on Disney+ November 12.
