Shocking pics show Spirit Airlines plane catching fire on landing at Atlanta airport
The passengers of a Spirit Airlines plane were left terrified on Sunday, July 10, as the brakes of the plane burst into flames after it landed at Atlanta airport. According to officials, the flight had just landed at the Hartfield-Jackson International Airport when the overheating of the brakes caused a tire to ignite. Many people recorded the horrifying moment and released it on different social media platforms.
One of the footage from outside the plane showed flames and smoke billowing from the jet's left-rear tire. One of the passengers from inside the flight also recorded a video that has now gone viral. The video shows the flight crew trying their best to calm down the panic-stricken passengers. The flight crew advised the passengers to remain seated and that there was no need to evacuate the plane. "Ladies and gentlemen stay seated, stay seated, we do not have to evacuate now," one woman can be heard saying over the speakers.

The passengers were asked to leave their bags behind by the female member of the flight if they had to evacuate. Atlanta Fire Rescue was called by the officials to put out the fire. After the fire was out, the plane was towed to a gate where all passengers were able to safely get off the airplane, without any injuries. The plane was traveling from Tampa to Atlanta when the fire broke out at around 9:25 am on Sunday. Atlanta airport also confirmed the incident, saying the fire ignited from the aircraft's brakes in the landing gear.
