LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: As everyone continues to miss Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, there’s a glimmer of hope as Miles Morales returns to the big screen. 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' is ready to wow viewers with a renewed sense of purpose and several brilliant additions, and we don’t just mean the different variants of Spider-Man that fans will witness in the upcoming movie.

The one element Marvel has plenty of but doesn’t use as often is the plethora of villains and supervillains. It is nearly impossible to count just how many supervillains there are across this Marvel Universe, especially those who have fought Spider-Man. Surprisingly, 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' will feature one such Super Villain, The Spot, aka Dr Jonathan Ohnn.

The Spot’s powers

The Spot or Johnathan Ohnn has been a part of the Marvel Universe since 1985 when he first appeared in the comic ‘Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #98’. So, it’s safe to say that his entry onto the big screen was long awaited. The Spot is unique, despite having powers similar to most supervillains in Marvel. As a physicist, he already had an upper hand when it came to intelligence. He is most uniquely recognized for the spots on his body, which is where his supervillain alias comes from.

These spots set him apart from most supervillains, as they are linked to the Spotted Dimension and can be used for teleportation. He can teleport things, people, and even parts of himself through the spots, which can also be moved or taken off his body, which only heightens his unique power. In addition, The Spot also possesses immortality and the ability to reconstruct his body. Again, all these powers are connected to the Spotted Dimension.

Who is stronger: The Spot or Miles Morales?

There are several supervillains that Spider-Man hasn’t been able to beat, but The Spot isn’t one of them. In 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' Miles Morales will have the upper hand, although The Spot will take the fan-favorite character through quite the journey. Since 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' will take place across dimensions, The Spot will be stronger in the Spotted Dimension and give Morales a hard time. The debate about whether or not Spider-Man is stronger than the villains he fights is an endless one, but it will be interesting to see the power dynamic between Morales and The Spot, even beyond the fighting.

You can watch 'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' from June 2 in theaters near you.
