Sonia Loja murder-suicide case: Husband Pedro Panjon FAINTED after finding his 3 children and wife dead at home
DANBURY, CONNECTICUT: Sonia Loja, a 36-year-old mom from Connecticut, had strangled her three children and then committed suicide. As previously reported by Meaww, "Sonia Loja is the mom of the three children. The children all appear to have died by strangulation, and the mother’s suspected cause of death is asphyxia by hanging. Her three kids were Junior Panjon, 12, Joselyn Panjon, 10, and Jonael Panjon, 5." There appears to be a striking new development in this case now. Sonia was reportedly depressed because the daycare she ran was under the authorities' radar, and she was upset after it was forced to shut down. Her husband, Pedro Panjon, did not have the slightest idea about the extent of her misery and only came back to an eerily silent home after work.
A letter was found, which appeared to be a suicide note, addressing her husband. It read, "Sorry, Pedro, I take my kids with me.” Sonia was clearly suffering from depression but could not afford to get therapy since the treatment was too expensive for them. Pedro did not suspect anything wrong with her behaviour. His cousin said, "When Pedro came home from work, the kids would always rush out to his car and yell, ‘Daddy! Yay! My daddy came back!’, especially the girl, Joselyn. They would help him bring his things in, like his lunchbox and everything. When the kids didn’t come out … that’s when his heart broke.”

He found the two-page suicide note in the kitchen, and after reading the first line, he brushed it aside and still has not been able to collect himself to read it. He then rushed to one bedroom where he saw his 12-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter dead. “He ... was hoping he's hear life, but it was too late,” the cousin continued. Then he rushed to his neighbours to ask for help but fainted after seeing his youngest deceased in another room. His wife was found in the backyard with the toys and swing set that were earlier used by the children attending the daycare.
The state Office of Early Childhood had cited Loja for her "illegal" daycare, and Loja was visibly hurt after this. “Her job was babysitting, but the city closed her business down; they said it was illegal. She was not working. Then she was crying; she was so sad. She would say, ‘I need to work,’ but she had three kids, so she wanted to work from home. She wanted to stay and take care of her kids and the other kids.”

The first warning was given to Loja about her daycare on June 2 but she did not act upon it. The next time, she claimed that the children were her relatives. On Jun 29, 2022, she got a "Demand to Cease" letter and following that, there were no children. The relative added that she was “under a lot of stress”. But after they assured her in a light-hearted visit over that weekend, the mother committed the triple murder-suicide in two days.
