Helena Christensen and Norman Reedus' son charged for punching woman in face
Mingus Reedus, the son of supermodel Helena Christensen and 'The Walking Dead' star Norman Reedus, has been charged with misdemeanor assault and was taken into custody in New York City Friday, September 24, for punching a woman, 24, in the face, while attending Manhattan's San Gennaro street festival. Authorities have since released Reedus, 21, who is a runaway model. The woman he attacked had to be rushed to the hospital to be treated for facial injuries.
Reedus was not acquainted with the woman he attacked and struck her after they had an argument, sources told The New York Daily News. This incident comes one week after Reedus made his very first Vogue cover debut, where he featured alongside the late male model Andre Van Noord's son, Parker Van Noord.

Reedus accused the woman of being drunk and said that her friends were the aggressors. They apparently "swarmed" him and he accidentally hurt the woman after he “threw his arm out” to protect himself. “It was instinct,” he said. “I was reacting to them swarming me and was afraid for the safety of my group.” Claminin that he, his girlfriend and two other friends were at the festival when the women bumped into them. “We didn’t think anything of it, but these five girls followed us for two blocks, throwing food at us and yelling,” he said. “We told them so leave us alone, but they kept following, threatening to hurt my girlfriend and her friend."
"It was very apparent that these girls were under the influence and looking for a fight." He said, "these girls swarmed me, one pulling my hair from the back, another throwing water in my face.” He accused the police of refusing to listen to his context. “My intention for that day was to mind my own business and play fair games,” he said.
Helena and Norman started dating in 1998, and Reedus was born the next year. The two separated in 2003, following which Norman began dating Diane Kruger. The pair has a daughter who was born in 2018. Reedus is Helena's only child.
Helena, a Danish supermodel, is known for often sharing pictures with her son on social media, showing the bond the mother-son duo share. Reedus appeared alongside Naomi Campbell at London Fashion Week in 2020 and has walked the runway for Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger. He also starred in a Victoria's Secret Mother's Day campaign alongside his mother, Helena, in April. In a video that was part of the campaign, Helena has said about motherhood, "What a crazy, beautiful journey it's been... It's the best thing ever … [You] think about life from a completely different perspective."
In a separate incident, the 32-year-old son of American collegiate and professional basketball player Michael Jordan, Jeffrey Jordan was accused of assaulting staff at a hospital in Arizona last week. Jeffrey was being treated for an injury he sustained at Casa Amigos bar in Scottsdale when he "fell and hit his head," police said. An argument ensued between him and the security who tried to take him out of the bar for medical attention.
However, after arriving at a local hospital for treatment, Jordan reportedly assaulted a hospital staff. At the hospital, a report for aggravated assault, a felony, was taken at the hospital. On Saturday, September 25, he was booked for one count of aggravated assault of a healthcare professional and has been released since.
