Sofia Coppola's daughter Romy Mars reveals reason for grounding in viral video
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Romy Mars, the teenage daughter of Oscar-winning filmmaker Sofia Coppola and 'Phoenix' lead singer Thomas Mars, became a social media sensation after one of her TikTok videos was shared on Twitter. In the video, which has received over 20 million views so far Mars reveals that she has been grounded.
Mars, 16, has changed her TikTok account's privacy settings in reaction to the unexpected surge in views. She even removed the TikTok video that made her viral, but it later surfaced on Twitter. In the video, Mars mentioned the reason she was grounded, but she also made several other admissions that made the cooking video even more hilarious. She first acknowledged that she had to Google the difference between garlic and onion. Another hilarious moment was the introduction of her "replacement parents," whom she meant to be her family dog and her babysitter's boyfriend. She even talked about nepotism while making vodka-sauced spaghetti.

Why was Romy Mars grounded?
Mars, the eldest daughter of Coppola and Thomas, revealed that she had been grounded for trying to rent a helicopter with her father's credit card. She stated, "Make a vodka-sauce pasta with me because I'm grounded because I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad’s credit card because I wanted to have dinner with a camp friend."
In an effort to prepare pasta, Mars admitted that she didn't "know the difference between a garlic and an onion," so she "had to Google images of onions on [her] phone." She claimed to have felt "embarrassed" by the disclosure.

Mars stated, "Also, I thought I would do this since I'm already grounded since my parents' biggest rule is, like, I'm not allowed to have any public social media accounts." She said, "Here's why," while holding up the Grammy that Thomas and his French indie pop band, 'Phoenix', had received in 2010.
Mars said that her parents "don't want [her] to be a nepotism kid," before asserting that "TikTok is not gonna make [her] famous, so it doesn’t really matter." She then questioned, "Is this an onion?" while holding out what appeared to be a shallot. She added, "Because I feel like this doesn’t look like an onion."
In the closing scene, Mars introduced her followers to her babysitter's boyfriend, who was petting the family dog, a Golden Retriever. Mars, who has a 12-year-old sister named Cosima, explained, "My parents are never home, so these are my replacement parents," and claimed that she "almost burned the house down" while cooking this one time.
'If I did that my fathers credit card would just decline'
Many individuals have reacted to the video since it resurfaced on Twitter, with one person writing, "Let her charter a helicopter! It's not like she was going to fly it." Another person wrote, "If I did that my fathers credit card would just decline."
A third person wrote, "Ah she knows what nepotism is... but not what shallots are... Mm" This other person wrote, "Sorry, it's hard for me to feel sorry for a teen who thinks chartering a helicopter on her dad's credit card is no big deal. Big Gossip Girl vibes."
"I'd ask why she'd need a babysitter at her big age but she also doesn't know what onions or garlic are, is handling knives and tried to charter a helicopter to visit a camp friend, so... maybe the sitter should just live there full time lol," another person wrote.
