A small fashion brand stirred up controversy on TikTok by promoting a revealing dress as the "perfect" funeral attire. The garment was advertised in a TikTok video by the British company EdgyLittlePieces, but shocked viewers immediately blasted the outfit as "inappropriate" and "disgusting." The front crisscross pattern of the fitted black dress reveals the wearer's body and cleavage.

"So many people have been asking me for funeral fits," the woman said in the video while wearing the skimpy outfit, adding, "Look no further, we think [the dress] is actually perfect." However, social media users felt the attire appeared more appropriate for a night out than a funeral.

Stunned TikTok users expressed their disgust at the inappropriate design, Daily Mail reports. "Are you joking??" one person wrote. Another said, "Are you mad? As a funeral service operator you would be judged. How dare you go dressed up like some street walker to a funeral." Another comment read, “Is this for real? You do not wear an outfit like this to a funeral, yes I know some request that ppl wear pink or going out outfits, but this is too much for a funeral..just wrong.” Another added, "My daughter tried on a similar dress as a joke when we were shopping & I told her she looked like she was going to a Kardashian funeral LOL so maybe.”

However, not everyone seemed scandalized. Defending the outfit, someone shared, “Works for me, some people want to ‘celebrate the life of’ not ‘mourn the passing of.’” Another joked, “Can someone wear this to my funeral.” A third quipped, “Everyone has an after party after funerals.”

The woman also demonstrated how to tighten the dress using the front lace straps in a second video. "You can tighten it up to make it super modest for the funeral, then loosen it back down for the afterparty," she said. However, even with the alteration, the dress still didn't seem appropriate. She added that the outfit was the "best seller" for the company and that extra inventory had to be ordered to meet demand. Nevertheless, several TikTok users continued to criticize the small shop for selling the dress.
