Sobhi Hassan: Shocking video shows clerk, 68, beating 56-year-old customer having seizure
A convenience store worker was caught on video beating a man who was having a seizure inside a store in North Carolina. The alleged crime was caught on camera.
According to cellphone footage acquired by NBC affiliate WRAL-TV, Sobhi Hassan, 68, was seen repeatedly hitting Gregory Evans, 56, with a stick moments after the latter started convulsing at the Princess Market convenience store in Rocky Mount on Wednesday, December 29. After the news station came forward and shared the video of the attack with the authorities, Hassan was taken into custody Tuesday by the Rocky Mount Police Department. He has been charged with a simple attack. Hassan's family owns the convenience store.

Shocking video
The shocking video showed an African American Evans standing in the middle of the shop as Hassan struck him six times on the legs. Before leaning against the store counter, Hassan could be heard telling Evans, 'Get out now." Following the incident, Evans was hospitalized and was still undergoing additional medical tests.
During a community meeting at the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Monday Evans' sister Edith Cooper said, "He's a little slow. And he still doesn't have full mobility of his body at this time." Residents who live around the area gathered outside Princess Market to call on local leaders to shut down the business. "The video was horrible to look at, to see a person treated less than a human being," local resident Bronson Williams told WRAL-TV.
A number of locals have also complained that Princess Market store workers have treated customers "in a negative and discriminatory way." The Rocky Mountain police have refrained from saying whether the act was going to be categorized as a hate crime but they are investigating. "This community is lacking banking activity, this community is lacking a pharmacy, this community is lacking educational opportunities as well, so there's so much that could really go on here," Williams said. "We've got to restore value back here in this community so that people can know that they do matter."
“I only ask the community: Please remain calm and let the police department conclude this investigation — and we will take the necessary actions that need to be taken, in lockstep with our District Attorney’s Office, to make sure that we have a solid case if there is one to be brought,” Police chief Robert Hassell said, according to the Rocky Mount Telegram.
There have been other violent instances at stores across the US. A gas station clerk being mercilessly shot has surfaced online. In the video, a robber walks up to the counter and shoots the clerk and makes his way to the cash register. As seen in the video, the robber walks into the convenience store and walks up to the counter. He then brings out a gun, aims it at the clerk and shoots him point-blank.
