LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Two years after the Season 3 finale, 'Snowpiercer' returns for a final run, immersing viewers into its post-apocalyptic world.
After TNT declined to air the final season, AMC stepped in and broadcast the first episode on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
Season 4 picks up right where Season 3 left off, where passengers face a crucial choice: remain on the train with Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) or follow Andre Layton (Daveed Diggs) to New Eden.
What happens in 'Snowpiercer' Season 4 Episode 1?
'Snowpiercer' Season 4 opens with Melanie's train making a stop and being ambushed by unknown survivors. The remainder of the episode follows Andre and his team as they work to establish a new life in New Eden.
They grapple with challenges like growing food, generating power, and battling the shifting weather, yet they remain resolute to continue their life off the wheels.
Even with the discovery of a warmer part of the Earth, the population still faces disagreements over new issues.
While Andre, Javi (Roberto Urbina) and many others are in support of making contact with Snowpiercer and letting them know about their success at New Eden, some are against it.
They’re reluctant to share their dwindling resources with the former passengers who opted for the easier path of staying on the train.
As the council grapples with this new dilemma, a stranger wearing the metal suit secretly enters their habitat with the help of Dr Headwood (Sakina Jaffrey) and abducts Andre's baby girl, Liana.
Zarah Fahrami (Sheila Vand), who is returning from the cliff after meeting Oz (Sam Otto) spots them and tries to free her baby from the abductors.
Later, when Boki (Aleks Paunovic) and Josie Wellstead (Katie McGuinness) find her, Zarah is almost at death's door. She manages to tell Josie that Headwood and a stranger have kidnapped Liana.
Josie brings Zarah's dead body to Andre, who then vows to kill his daughter's kidnappers.
The final scene of the episode flashes back to Snowpiercer, nine months earlier, when the unknown survivors ambushed Ben (Iddo Goldberg) and Bess Till (Mickey Sumner), who had stepped off the train to investigate the crashed rocket.
The men forcibly board the train, and one of them introduces himself as Admiral Anton Milius (Clark Gregg) from the International Peacekeeping Forces.
What to expect in 'Snowpiercer' Season 4 Episode 2?
Snowpiercer and Big Alice now face new and unknown rivals. Episode 2 will delve into Admiral Milius’s motives for wanting to meet Melanie and whether his presence on the train poses a threat to her control over the engine and the passengers' survival.
It also remains a point of intrigue why these new survivors have kidnapped Andre's baby girl and to what extent Andre is willing to go to save his daughter and ensure the safety of his fellow passengers.
The official synopsis for 'Snowpiercer' Season 4 Episode 2 reads, "Milius and his Animal Squad storm the train; Melanie realizes something is wrong and shuts the vault doors to the engine; when Ben's life is threatened, Melanie surrenders the engine."

AMC has chosen to follow a weekly release pattern for 'Snowpiercer'. After the debut of the first episode on July 21, the second episode is scheduled to arrive on July 28, 2024.
