The second part of the finale starts with a plan to take control of the main engine and turn the train to find Melanie (Jennifer Connelly), who is waiting for the train’s arrival near the research station.

Layton and Ruth take help from Tailies to execute their plan. With Javi (Roberto Urbina) taking control of the engine on Snowpiercer and Bennett (Iddo Golberg) taking control of Big Alice, Layton and the team manage to take control of the engine. They change the train route in order to rescue Melanie. However, Wilford gets to know about their plans. He looks out of the window and sees the giant train changing its course.

Wilford does everything to take back control of the train. He forcefully enters the main engine and brutally kills Javi. Why didn’t Wilford stop Snowpiercer for Melanie?

Wilford knew that once Melanie comes back, she will take the control of the train and won’t spare him. If she is on the train, Melanie will have the chance of taking control of the main engine and that would have taken all the powers away from him. Secondly, he knows that most of the people on the locomotive are against him. Bringing Melanie back will be his doom and he will never be able to return on the train.

One more reason he doesn’t stop the train is the research that she is doing. Melanie went to the research station for finding new hotspots where people can colonize. Wilford doesn’t seem to be keen on re-colonizing the earth because it will take away everything he has.

So, Wilford has many reasons for not stopping the train because he is one of the few people who know everything about Snowpiercer and he wants the people to believe that he is the master and everyone else is a slave.

'Snowpiercer' will return to TNT with Season 3.
