Seven-time Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles was offered a coloring book by a flight attendant who thought she was a child when she was on her flight home to Texas after accepting the Presidential Medal of Freedom last week. The 25-year-old, 4-foot-8 gymnast, shared a selfie on her Instagram Story feed and expressed her embarrassment, while making a face of utter disbelief. She later shared the post on her Twitter as well.

“Not the flight attendant trying to give me a coloring book when I board….. I said ‘no I’m good I’m 25,” Biles captioned the pic. Biles is one of the most celebrated athletes in the United States history and is then joined by Shannon Miller as an athlete who has won the most number of Olympic gold medals for her country. She was one of the 16 Americans to receive the nation’s highest civilian award and had just been in Washington DC on Thursday, July 7.

Biles made another history on Thursday, July 7, by becoming the youngest American to receive the prestigious award when President Joe Biden placed the award around her neck during a ceremony at the White House and joked that she’ll need to find room for the new medal among her 32 Olympic and World Championship medals. Biles was likely on a flight from D.C. to her home state of Texas when this incident happened.

She said another crew member delivered her an alcoholic drink — but asked if she was legal drinking age — after the coloring book incident. “The other flight attendant gave me a mimosa so we’re in the clear,” she wrote. Her fans also shared their thoughts and expressed their anger on the situation that took place with her. A Twitter tweeted "The best gymnast the USA has ever had and she gets offered a coloring book on a flight? STFU." Another Twitter user tweeted "The decorated gymnast and youngest Medal of Freedom recipient Simone Biles just got handed a coloring book. I’m giggling with her not at her because for it really was a cute and amusing gesture." “[I]’m crying at the thought of a flight attendant giving simone biles [sic] the most decorated gymnast in history a coloring book because she is 4’8″,” @mattxiv wrote in the tweet.
