SIMI VALLEY, CALIFORNIA: Authorities have launched a desperate search for a missing California mother of two after a "significant amount of blood" was discovered in her home. Rachel Castillo, 25, was last seen at 9.30 am Thursday, Nov 10, by her sister, with whom she lives with her two young sons, ages 2 and 5.

As per the reports from NY Post, “On the evening of November 10, 2022, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the home of Rachel Castillo for a call of suspicious circumstances,” Simi Valley police said in a statement Friday, November 11 evening.

“Upon further investigation, a significant amount of blood was located in her home. Rachel’s whereabouts are unknown. Given the circumstances, it is believed Rachel is at risk," the statement continued.

Emily Castillo, Castillo's sister, told KABC-TV on Saturday, November 12 that when she returned home on Thursday, November 10 her sibling was no longer there but there was a lot of blood. “As soon as I saw the blood, that’s when I realized something wasn’t right,” Emily told the news station. “So I called my mom to let her know to come over and then I immediately called 911.” The worried sister then frantically searched the flat while she waited for the police. “I was running around the house trying to see if I could find her somewhere,” Emily told the station what happened. “I checked her bathroom, under her bed, her closet, my closet, the laundry room, my bathroom, and my bedroom but she wasn’t anywhere in there.”

According to Rachel's mother, her phone, car, and keys were all left behind, as reported by KABC. The Los Angeles Times said that her two small sons were picked up by their father earlier in the day. “We want to locate her as soon as possible and we are hoping for the best-case scenario — that she is alive and well,” Simi Valley police Officer Casey Nicholson said, according to the Los Angeles Times. “Investigators are literally working around the clock.”

According to the publication, Nicholson said that the children's father and the family were all working together. According to KABC, detectives are looking into every possibility, including other males Rachel might have been meeting. According to the family, there is no reason to think that the father of her children would have harmed her, the station reported. Police Cmdr Ritchie Lew cautioned that authorities have not “even determined a crime has occurred.” “We don’t even have a suspect because we don’t know what happened,” Lew said. “What the detectives are trying to figure out is what happened and where she is.”
