LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The Emmy nominations for the 76th awards were unveiled on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, setting the stage for the highly anticipated award ceremony scheduled for September 16, 2024.

As always, the announcement has brought forth a mix of expected nods, surprising inclusions, and notable omissions. This year's nominations have also sparked a flurry of excitement and debate among fans.

'Shōgun' led the pack with an impressive 25 nominations, highlighting a dominant year across various categories for FX. The series received widespread acclaim for its storytelling, production quality, and ensemble cast.

Despite this success, fans are up in arms over the omission of Cosmo Jarvis, who delivered a stellar performance as John Blackthorne.

Fans furious as Cosmo Jarvis unfairly sidelined in Emmy nominations

Cosmo plays the role of John Blackthorne in 'Shōgun'. John is a daring and adventurous English sailor whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is shipwrecked in Japan.

His character was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, making his exclusion from the nominations particularly surprising and disappointing.

His commendable acting in the role is loosely inspired by the historical English navigator William Adams, who rose to prominence in Japan and eventually became a samurai under Tokugawa Ieyasu.

Cosmo effectively portrayed both vulnerability and strength in his role as John. He gave close attention to detail in his performance. His body language and delivery of dialogue clearly showcased John's growth and change throughout the series.

Various fans have expressed their frustration on platforms like Reddit and X, voicing their strong belief that Cosmo deserved an Emmy nomination for his outstanding performance.

A fan wrote on Reddit, "How the hell did Cosmo Jarvis and Moeka Hoshi not get Emmy nominations???"

Another fan wrote on Reddit, "Cosmo getting snubbed was a huge letdown. I wonder if having two Best Actor submissions split the vote in favour of Sanada-san (who deserves all the accolades of course) at Cosmo's expense."

Another fan chimed in on Reddit, saying, "Moeka Hoshi not getting an Emmy nod for her outstanding work in Shogun is ridiculous. I don’t understand why Cosmo received no recognition as well."

A fan commented on Reddit, "I didn't realize what a good job Cosmo did until I heard him in an interview. The man utterly transform his countenance, his bearing, and his *voice* to become John Blackthorne."

Fans have also shared their anger on X, expressing their dissatisfaction with Emmy nominations

A fan wrote on X, "No Cosmo Jarvis is the only real disappointment shocker. Never expected the television academy to jibe with The Curse. Some things are just too brilliant."

A fan wrote, "Cosmo Jarvis Emmy snub is so wild, man. They did see the show, right?" Another fan echoed the same sentiment, saying, "Cosmo Jarvis snubbed, it aint right."

Another fan expressed disappointment by saying, "No nomination for Cosmo Jarvis. Bizarre."

A fan said, "Why Cosmo Jarvis has been snubbed from #Emmys he really deserves his own 26 nomination ?"
