A man who made chilling appeals for his girlfriend's return has been charged with the alleged murder of his girlfriend after her body was found wrapped in plastic and dumped in bushland. Vincent Carlino, 37, reported his model girlfriend missing on the evening of Wednesday, July 20 before NSW Police visited his home in Dural in Sydney's northwest.

The accused told neighbors that his partner Shereen Kumar was suffering from depression shortly after she disappeared. "I've told police all of the places I think she could be," Carlo had told media outlets after he reported his partner missing.

Vincent was arrested by the police at midnight on Saturday, July 23, and was formally charged with murder. Previously, Vincent had made a desperate public plea among neighbors and local media to find her. Vincent told locals that he and Shereen had gotten into an argument after which she walked out of her Dural home. The next day, Vincent reported Shereen missing. However, neighbors suspected his claim that Shereen walked out in nothing but her pajamas and dressing gown as they said it was "cold and raining all evening."

Vincent was 'very worried' about his missing girlfriend

Vincent reportedly repeated the same story to police, claiming to not know where Shereen was, leading the authorities to launch a frantic 4-day search. Vincent, while speaking to Daily Mail Australia, said he was "extremely worried" about his missing partner. Vincent said, "she left and didn't take her phone or the van. I'm extremely worried." He added, "I've told police all of the places I think she could be." However, the search ended in tragedy when Shereen's body was found just minutes away from their home in northwest Sydney.

Following his arrest, Vincent did not apply for bail in court. His lawyer, Elias Tabchouri told reporters that Vincent was "very concerned" about the allegations against him. His lawyer also added that it was "too early to say" how Vincent intends to plead.

Shereen, whose children are now under the care of their father, ran a dog-walking business with her partner Vincent as well as working as a model.

Neighbors are shocked over the alleged murder

Resident Daniella Howcroft, while speaking to 9News said that the discovery of Shereen's body had rocked the community. "It didn't even cross our mind that she would be murdered and it wasn't until we read it online yesterday afternoon." One neighbor told police he ran into Vincent wandering the property in the rain the night Kumar vanished.

Family and well-wishers remember Shereen

Hal Saunders, a photographer, who had worked with Shereen on modeling assignments, told the Sydney Morning Herald: “She was one of the most unpretentious, down-to-earth people you could meet. “How someone like that has [suffered] the fate she did has us all stunned.”

Gurpreet Beehan, the former husband of Shereen, is now taking care of the children. He expressed grief over the alleged murder and said, "She was an incredible mother to our kids and she will be missed forever." Gurpreet added, "no one can replace a mother and this has left us all devastated."
