Actor Candice Patton and Caity Lotz have together founded an empowerment platform called SheThority. The two actors became close while working on crossover events between 'The Flash' and 'Legends of Tomorrow' together, since Patton plays Iris West in the former and Lotz plays Sarah Lance aka White Canary in the latter. After having worked collectively on their DC shows and becoming closer over many seasons, the actors came up with the idea of found SheThority.

Who founded SheThority?

Lotz and Patton co-founded the platform but the idea was inspired by the experiences which the actresses went through while shooting cross-over events. Speaking about their platform on the podcast titled 'Remote Controlled', Lotz said, "When we got together on the crossovers, we were like ‘Wow, this feels so nice" and added, "We just started sharing stories of what we were going through, whether it’s personal or work, and everyone was able to offer advice, or what they had done to get to through something, or what had helped them."

When was SheThority founded?

Many of the actresses then wondered how it would be if other women were able to experience such strength and support? That is when the idea had truly germinated. “So we created SheThority as a platform for women to be able to share their experiences,” Lotz shared. She also added the platform was inspired by the female fans that they had met over time and said, "We wanted to continue to have these conversations with these young girls and women who were identifying with us,” she said. “We just didn’t have that platform. So we wanted to create something where we could continue that conversation.” The platform was founded in 2018.

What is SheThority?

According to the official About Us section on the platform, SheThority is "an online global collective that provides a positive space for women* to discuss and conquer the unique challenges of the female experience in today’s world through sharing journeys, challenges, triumphs, and inspirations. We are building a community that challenges ourselves, empowers others and reclaims the female experience."

The platform also stated that they were inclusive by adding "*Cis women, transwomen, genderqueer women, and non-binary people who are significantly female-identified" as an identifier.

The section also revealed further about their goals and said, "Our goal is to create a space where we, as women, can stand up with one another and assume our individual authority, in ways both big and small. We aspire to collaborate with you, to create an empowering community where dialogue, tips and support are readily available and easily shared. “The power of the pack is the wolf, and the power of the wolf is The Pack.” Welcome to The Pack, Sister."
