WELLINGTON, FLORIDA: Florida 'Killer Clown' Sheila Keen-Warren, who has been accused of murdering Marlene Warren in 1990, has now requested a judge to allow her lawyers to include claims of inmate Edward Bahr in the case. Bahr had allegedly claimed that he carried out the 1990 murder for which Sheila has been charged.

Sheila's lawyers claimed that Bahr revealed to a prison inmate decades ago "that he murdered a woman in Wellington, Florida." Sheila has been accused of fatally shooting Warren and was charged with first-degree murder in 2017. Meanwhile, Bahr boasted to his cellmate years ago that Michael, who was then the husband of Marlene, hired him to carry out the murder as she was getting a divorce and taking over his car dealership.

Later, in 2002, Michael got married to Sheila. Sheila, who is the current wife of Michael, was arrested 27 years after Marlene's murder and is set to stand trial on May 12, 2023. According to the files, Bahr told the detective "he would tell him everything he knows" relating to the death of Marlene Warren if [the detective] "could promise him he would not get the electric chair." Further, when the detective "told Bahr that he could not promise him that, Bahr requested to speak to an attorney before answering any more questions."

Why is Sheila Keen-Warren called 'Killer Clown'?

Marlene Warren was shot dead on May 26, 1990, in Florida as she was answering the door of her Palm Beach home to a person dressed up in a clown costume. The culprit gave her balloons and flowers and later, coldly shot her in the face and eventually drove off in a white sedan. "The person dressed as the clown was carrying a flower arrangement and two balloons," the sheriff's office said.

"Marlene answered the front door and as the clown offered the items to her, witnesses heard a gunshot, and Marlene fell to the ground," the police said, adding, "The person dressed as a clown calmly walked back to the LeBaron and drove away."

Later, the costume shop employees identified Sheila as the one who purchased the clown attire. Michael and Sheila knew each other through work and were allegedly having an affair at the time of the murder but it was never proven.

How did Edwar Bahr came into the picture?

Bahr claimed to his fellow inmate in 1991 at Maine State Prison that "he dressed up as a clown and shot the woman, that her husband owned a used car lot named Bargain Motors, that a young male had come out of one of the rooms right after the shooting." He also added that a "female biker type got the clown costume from the Stoplight costume shot," and that "he was hired by the husband of the victim during a meeting at the Mermaid Bar." Bahr also revealed this murder was "the ‘biggest thing" he had ever done.

Further, the filing claims, "[H]e stated that in broad daylight he dressed up as a clown, then he went up to this residence where this woman was living and had knocked on the door and said delivery, and she opened the door, he pointed a gun to her face and said, ha-ha, and shot her in the face."

The inmate also told in a recorded interview, "This guy had offered him a substantial amount of money to kill his wife." The filing further added, "He said he wanted – he wanted his wife dead because… she was divorcing him (Inaudible) and she was to take over the car dealership."

However, in September 2022, Bahr "denied telling [the inmate] that he murdered Marlene Warren." He also stated that he talked about the details of the "clown homicide" based on details he had seen reported on TV.

Now, Sheila's lawyers are claiming that it could be Bahr who committed the crime, as per Fox News. Sheila's lawyers are now planning to use Bahr's "out-of-court statements" and other evidence of "third-party culpability" at trial because they can be great pieces of evidence "necessary" for her defense.

Meanwhile, the filing in the court also states, "More than 30 years after Marlene Warren’s murder, much of the evidence that Sheila Keen-Warren could have relied on to establish that someone else has confessed to the murder, to impeach the State’s witnesses, or present an alibi defense is unavailable for various reasons. The law permitted the State to take their time in filing charges, but not to force Sheila Keen-Warren to fight her case blindfolded with one arm tied behind her back."
