'She Would Never Know' Episode 7 starts with Song-ah arriving at the factory to help Hyun-seung and the small gesture gives Hyun-seung hopes that things might after all work for him and her. He ends up expressing himself freely and that bothers Song-ah because she is certain that this is something that she must continue to lead him on about. At this point in the show, it is important for Song-ah to have drawn a line and that is what she does when she notices the extra care that Hyun-seung takes, sometimes with no thought to self-preservation.

So she clearly explains to him that the trauma that she has experienced from her previous relationship -- the truth about which Hyun-seung had opened her eyes to in the first place -- is something that she needs time to get over. She also tells him that she cannot accept his feelings for her. At this point, Hyun-seung also ends up telling her that he did act in self-interest when he had involved himself in her life's matter. When he decided to out Song-ah's boyfriend for cheating, a part of him had believed that it would help him.

By accepting this, Hyun-seung also gives voice to all the accusations from viewers about how Hyun-seung is coming off more like a pushy stalker than someone who is in love. The self-awareness and the resulting distance that he begins to maintain from Song ah to respect her wishes is what paints his character differently. No, he has not given up on her, just that he will be content with being by her side and helping her. At times, this would definitely come across as being pathetic, but here, he strikes a fine balance between heartbreak and pathetic.

In fact, he also concentrates on work wholeheartedly and even tries to act casually, just as he would in the past. He has a competition within the company that he needs to prepare for, and the right mentor just happens to be none other than Song-ah as she had won the previous two years. Yes, initially there is an air of awkwardness, but that is only until the two of them figure out a mutually comfortable way around it. It is only at the end of the episode do we realize that for the time being, Song-ah might want to keep Hyun-seung around.

Since the day Hyo-joo saw Jae-shin with Song-ah in the basement arguing over something, she has become extremely insecure. In fact, she even went to the extent of getting a tabloid report about her wedding to Jae-shin published. Until that moment, Jae-shin had not announced the news of his wedding, let alone to the granddaughter of the company that he worked for. While he is able to remove the article, it has also become clear to Jae-shin that he cannot give up on the fame and fortune for Song-ah because he lived with nothing to his name and that is not a place that he wants to return to.

So he has also stopped clinging on to Song-ah and attacking Hyun-seung in the office. However, with his fiance's insecurity, Song-ah is in danger of falling prey to a rich girl's tantrum. While she could very well defend herself, that would only complicate her life at work so it is simpler to just continue the facade between the four of them that Hyun-seung is the one she is dating at the moment. Hyo-joo is unable to even see Jae-shin and Song-ah wait together at an elevator stop, so any hint of there having been a relationship in the first place is only going to mean more dreams.

'She Would Never Know' is a TV adaptation of the webcomic 'Sunbae, Geu Lipstick Bareujimayo' which literally means 'Sunbae, Don't Put on That Lipstick' and it airs every Monday and Tuesday on JTBC. The show can be streamed on iQiyi.
