LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ever since Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn have ended their relationship, the 'Lover' singer has reportedly started dating Matty Healy, the lead singer of The 1975. However, Shawn Mendes recently discussed his friendship with Swift and also his apprehensions about Alwyn, whom he has not come across till now. The 24-year-old pop singer was asked if he was still in touch with his early "mentor" while he took a lie detector test in a new video for Vanity Fair.
In 2014, the singer was one of the opening acts for Swift's '1989' tour and also made a cameo during the Pasadena stop of her 2018 'Reputation' tour. "I always am asking her for advice on music," Mendes said, adding that he last texted the 'Wildest Dreams' singer "maybe a month ago." The 'Stitches' singer was then asked if he approved of Swift's former longtime boyfriend, whom she started dating back in 2016.

'He looks like a sweet guy'
"I've never personally met Joe, but he looks like a sweet guy," Mendes said. However, the singer immediately changed his reply when the polygraph examiner told him he was being "deceptive." "I'm lying? A little bit? Yeah, I mean, he's kind of got a little bit of a villain look about him," he said, holding up a photo of Alwyn, adding, "I mean, he looks like a nice guy - but he, at any moment, could turn into a villain."
'I find it easier to trust brown eyes'
"He's got really blue eyes and I struggle with eyes that blue," Mendes said, adding, "I find it easier to trust brown eyes." Mendes did not say why he was suspicious of Alwyn whole stating that he had "talked way too much about him."
