Family struggles with tragedies and health issues
Stone was born into a family of five and had a close relationship with her siblings, even as she became a Hollywood superstar. Her older brother Michael Stone also tried to make it in Hollywood, but his career never took off, despite a role in the 1995 film The Quick and the Dead. Tragically, Michael's son Colin lost his life to drug addiction at just 22 years old, after successfully battling his addiction to substances. Meanwhile, Sharon's younger sister Kelly suffered a severe bout of COVID-19 during the pandemic due to her autoimmune disease Lupus.
In an Instagram video shared in August 2020, Sharon shared that her mother Dorothy had also suffered two heart attacks in the preceding five months. Speaking about her family's struggles, Sharon said, "It's been a tough few years. My mother has had two heart attacks in five months. My sister Kelly had COVID-19 with critical symptoms, and my brother's son Colin died of an overdose."
