'Shameless & Shameful': Meghan Markle slammed for saying her wedding was compared to release of NELSON MANDELA
Meghan Markle received heavy criticism online after comparing herself to Nelson Mandela and saying she needed to break away from the royals. Previously, Meghan told The Cut magazine in an in-depth interview that an actor approached her when she attended the star-studded premiere of the Disney remake in July 2019. Meghan said, "He looked at me and was just like a light. He said, 'I just want you to know: When you married into this family, we rejoiced in the streets just like we did when Mandela was freed from prison.'" She did not name the performer, however.
After Meghan's interview became public, people on social media called her recent comments "shameful." A user wrote on Twitter, “This is the doozy. Meghan Markle compares herself to Mandela. 😂😂😂 🤮🤮🤮. No self-awareness.” Piers Morgan wrote, “Even by Markle standards, this is a revoltingly self-aggrandizing, disingenuous & hypocritical load of royal-bashing tosh. The Mandela anecdote alone had me gagging. How dare she use her title to keep trashing the institution that gave it to her? Shameless & shameful.”

“Have re-read this Meghan Markle interview many, many times today. We are surely at the stage when a grown-up needs to ask the couple who, if anyone, is advising them. Because this is becoming irreversibly embarrassing for them both and the Royal Family,” Matt Wilkinson remarked. Journalist Lucy Burge wrote on Twitter, “‘If Meghan Markle hates the royal family so much why is she still using the Duchess of Sussex title? She’s the fakest, most annoying person alive.”
Meanwhile, according to Daily Mail, Meghan’s new bombshell interview even claims that she and Prince Harry were "upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy… just by existing" before they quit. The Duchess blamed a lot of her issues on the media. And it was one of the reasons they talked to the Queen about stepping down from some responsibilities so they could earn their own money and stop depending on government assistance.

Meghan said, leaving Britain and the gaze of the press seemed like the best idea. She claimed, “Anything to just … because just by existing, we were upsetting the dynamic of the hierarchy. So we go, ‘OK, fine, let’s get out of here. Happy to.” The Duchess also blamed the media for driving a rift between her family and that of her husband, Prince Charles, in particular. She said, “Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process.’ It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision.”
She remarked that forgiving the royal family would require a lot of effort. “I think forgiveness is really important. It takes a lot more energy to not forgive. But it takes a lot of effort to forgive. I’ve really made an active effort, especially knowing that I can say anything. I have a lot to say until I don’t. Sometimes, as they say, the silent part is still part of the song,” Meghan remarked.
