MOSCOW, IDAHO: A former friend of Bryan Christopher Kohberger has opened up after his arrest in the quadruple murder case. Schyler Jacobson has shared that there was a time when he used to go for night runs with the 28-year-old alleged killer, who stabbed Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin in the early hours of November 13.
Kohberger, a Phd student, was arrested on a warrant for the first-degree murders from his parents’ home in Pennsylvania. His detention came over a month after the killings that rocked the whole US. Now his ex-pal Jacobson told WBRE, “I looked at the picture and I couldn’t believe who it was. It was Bryan Kohberger. I would text him and be like ‘hey you wanna go for a run’. We’d go for 6/7 mile runs at night so when I saw who it was I was just like in complete shock, it was so close to home."

Describing his astonishment over the whole thing, the friend reportedly said, “I’m still kind of like shaking knowing about that. It’s just unreal to think somebody could actually do that to somebody. It’s absolutely mind-boggling, my adrenaline is still kind of running after finding that information out."
Meanwhile, an interesting fact has come out about Kohberger. It has been said that he’s not just educated but a master’s in criminal justice. Also, at the time of the slayings, he was pursuing a PhD in criminology. Following his arrest, a statement was issued by Pennsylvania’s DeSales University, from where the suspect did his graduation in psychology.
The statement read, “On Friday, December 30, DeSales University learned of the arrest of Bryan Kohberger in connection with the murder of four University of Idaho students. Kohberger received a bachelor's degree in 2020 and completed his graduate studies in June 2022. As a Catholic, Salesian community, we are devastated by this senseless tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families during this difficult time.”
Currently, Kohberger has been held at Monroe County correctional facility but soon will be taken to Idaho, where an extradition hearing will take place on Tuesday, January 3. On December 30, Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said, “You all now know the name of the person who has been charged with these offenses, please get that information out there, please ask the public, anyone who knows about this individual, to come forward.”
Thompson added, “Report anything you know about him, to help the investigators, and eventually our office and the court system, understand fully everything there is to know about not only the individual, but what happened and why.”
Besides, one of the victims, Ethan’s family, has expressed their thoughts over cops nabbing Kohberger. They reportedly said, “We are relieved this chapter is over because it provides a form of closure. However, it doesn't alter the outcome or alleviate the pain. We miss Ethan, and our family is forever changed. We remain grateful to the University of Idaho and the Sigma Chi fraternity for their ongoing support. We also appreciate the outpouring of kind words from so many others, which we'll need as we enter the next chapter of this nightmare.”
